Hairspiration Monday: Redken Color Rebel
Color Rebel c/o Redken
1. Remove cap and the plug applicator. Replace plug applicator with the sponge top.
2. Shake well and twist the cap in the direction of the arrows until the tip is saturated.
3. Apply Color Rebel to clean or day-after hair by gently pulling sections taut and applying in a smooth sweeping motion. Start with a light layer – you can always add more to build color intensity.
4. Brush in.
5. Simply let hair air dry or blowdry for faster results. Keep combing or brushing to a minimum after applying as this will break up the color pigments.
How to Remove?
Color Rebel washes out after two shampoos, but if you want to remove instantly, you can do so in two easy ways. Simply wash hair with Redken Hair Cleansing Cream or apply a drop of Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine or All Soft Argan-6 Multicare Oil to the area where you would like to remove the color and rub the hair between your fingers until the color pigment dissolves.

Since summer made a repeat this weekend I took this as an opportunity to punk up my hair again and do my subtle hints of pink. I love that this is a fun easy temporary way to have fun with your hair. Especially since I'm not a teenager anymore and have to be mindful of my job. Maybe over a long weekend I'll try to do it with all of my tips pink.

Use a good "cocktail" size of the Volume Foam and Styling Whip apply from roots to ends on damp hair, then blow dry. This is one of my favorite products this gives your hair such a healthy shine, really makes your hair vibrant. Optional, take a straightening iron to create a sleek and smooth volumes look.
Waves:
Truth be told there are few occasions I break out the curling iron. I'm no pro with one. That's why I got some quality advice on how to curl your hair from an ARROJO stylist. I used a 1 inch curling iron but didn't use the clamps, I wrapped my hair away from the face holding the ends of my hair with my thumb and index finger. If you take small portions of your hair you will create small ringlets, the more hair the looser the wave. Also the time you leave your hair curled on the iron is determined by when you can feel heat on your hair. Once you can feel heat on the section wrapped around the curling iron it’s time to take it out. Now you can just ruffle your roots to unravel the curl as desired. If your hair is like mine and doesn't stayed curled, once you’ve taken out the iron use a small clip to clip the curl into place at its base, wait for it to totally cool and now gently run fingers through your curls. If it ends up too strong first brush it out, and if it’s still too firm, use the heat of your dryer to break the wave a little.

Hairspiration: Stylenoted's The Braided Rainbow

After I saw this posted on ARROJO's Blog, Stylenoted, I knew I had to try it...or well at least give it my own spin. My bangs have grown out of control and I have been pushing them to the side (the lack of trim isn't because I'm lazy or because I'm growing them out I just been waiting to actually go get a hair cut) so this style gives my long fringe a actual look and not like I'm trying to move them out of my face. Plus, I'm just so happy that my hair is long enough to pull into braids across my head.

I tried to do the bun but it wasn't working out for me to well, so I opted to leave it in a ponytail. I was really impressed how well this hair-do held up since I literally spent the whole day out, work and after hour cocktails.

DailyBuzz Style 9x9 Summer Hairstyle: The Messy Ponytail
I was chosen for this months DailyBuzz Style 9x9 Challenge and it's all about our favorite summer hairstyle! For me when it comes to hair and summer I'm low maintenance. I'm usually throw it up in a messy top knot on the go type of gal. Especially when it's those really hot sticky days, but lately I found myself playing around with my hair and trying different hairstyles. {GASP} Even waking up early to do my hair. This is probably because this is the first time in a long time that I had long hair. I really have fallen for the messy ponytail look since I'm a fan of polished looks with a messy finish. The messy ponytail is a easy to-do ponytail that works for us ladies that have some fringe.
What You Need:
- 1 inch curling- brush
- small tooth comb
- hair tie
- thermal spray
- hairspray
Hair Products Used:
-Arrojo Set & Style Spray, Arrojo Thermal Protector, and Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-Humidity Aersol Hair Spray
Steps:
1. Spray a thermal protector spray to keep your hair from frying, plus if you have colored hair this will help protect your color. Spray some on the palms of your hand and smooth it in the tips of your hair. Brush it in. Then repeat step using a style spray like Arrojo Set & Style Spray. This will help hold your curls into place and create texture for your hair.
2. Start curling your hair working all the way around your head. Don't worry about it being perfect since this is for a messy look the messier your curls are the better.
3. Once you did all your curls around your head spray just a little bit of hairspray to hold in the texture of the curls.
4. Break curls apart by running your fingers through your hair.
5. Brush the top of your hair into a pony hair. For girls without bangs it's easier if toss your head over and pull your hair into a pony tails.
6. Secure your look tightly and pull your hair starting at the front.
7. To create volume in your ponytail tease the back of your ponytail. Lift the ponytail up and use a small teeth combo brushing down the back of the ponytail.
8. Go back over your ponytail with your curling iron to create more texture.
9. To keep the texture and volume in your hair spray hairspray once more.

This look works well with a dressy polished look since it gives it a summer twist to it. It can amp up your look and also play it down. It's a great hairstyle that can take you from work to after hours.

Crown of Braids Tutorial
All over The Beauty Department's website there has been nothing but beautiful braids everywhere. This makes me long for my long hair...O how I wish to do a proper waterfall braid or a fish tail braid. But having medium length hair prevents me from doing so. Then I saw this tutorial on Refinery29: 3 Braided Hairstyles That You Can Actually Do! The second tutorial called Delicate Crown Braids stood out the most to me since it seemed more feasible to do with medium length hair if you tweaked it a bit.
Refinery29's Crown of Braids:
Mine:
What I Used:
- Bobby Pins
- Little black rubber bands
- Arrojo Gel
Step 1. Take a small section of your hair behind your right ear and braid it (it's the same step as step one on Refinery29 except I started on my right side). Then take a black little rubber band and tie up your ends.
Step 2. Repeat Step 1 on your left side.
Step 3. You don't need to use gel but if you have hair smoothing cream or spray (if you use the spray, spray some into your palms and rub together), which ever you prefer or have will do, smooth out your braids. You want to flatten all those little hairs that might be sticken up. Especially if you have layered hair like I do.
Step 4. Instead of making more braids and wrapping them around your head (being that our hair isn't long enough) take the braid on your right side and fold it over to the left side. Take your bobby pins and pin it down. Now take you left braid and bring it around to the right side and secure it with a bobby pin. It really make sure both side stay put and the folds are flat bobby pin the folds of the braids with the ends of the braid.
Step 5. Cover up the bobby pins as much as you could...and VIOLA your own little verison of the Crown of Braids.
If I had more time in the mornings or if I got my butt up a little earlier I would have maybe waved out my hair with my 1 inch barrel curling iron. Maybe during the weekends I'll try that out....
