NYFW Spring 2014: Falguni and Shane Peacock
Falguni and Shane Peacock of course rocked it out for their Spring 2014 show. Their line is unlike a lot of the usual lines that you would see at the tents in Lincoln Center, nothing overtly girly, but everything that is sexy. Falguni and Shane Peacock know how to gain attention and keep it with the details of the prints, their fabric choices, and the detail work. I guess this is why performing artist love their line for live performances and music videos. All eyes will be on you when wearing one of their pieces.
This season the line was full of mixed patterns from florals to plaid with mixture of hardware and lace. I love that this line might not be something you would...or even could...wear every day but it's something that you would dream about wearing. I must say though a lot of their separates are more wearable then what I have seen them do in the past.
I have to admit that I'm so obsessed over the Forest Gump-esque leg braces. The hardware just goes so perfectly with their clothes. I mean, I'm not sure I could rock this look but I can see the rocker chics of lower Manhattan pulling something like this off. I just wish there was more hardware seen throughout the collection. Anyway, I love how they really think about their details of each look. Like the lace dress with the patches of floral print which they matched with a floral print undie. I think this is genius, instead of is just being sheer or just putting another floral print to cover her bottom they thought about the undergarments.
Falguni and Shane Peacock by far is one of my favorite shows to see season after season. Can't wait to see them in February...hopefully!

Another Fashion Week outfit post! And it's one that I sneak previewed for you all. Anyway, I've been holding onto this skirt to debut for Fashion Week. I picked it up during the Alice & Olivia sample sale earlier this summer. It's a true sample and was only $40!! YES $40! I couldn't say no to it. It is literally the perfect Fashion Week skirt. Plus it's a great skirt to play dress up in.
PS my first pose totally reminds me of a typical Stacey Bendet Instagram pose.

I feel like designer Jackie Fraser-Swan is talking to me through her clothes and her runway show. It's like she gets me. Her whole theme of her collection just speaks to me, "A group of punk rock kids crashed a private garden on the Upper East Side where the Ramones were playing a secret show ." Um...yes. Not that you could particularly tell through the way I dress, but I'm a punk rock kid at heart. I've always wished I grew up in the late 70s...early 80s, like old enough to go to CBGBs and rock out to the Ramones, Joan Jett, Blondie, Misfits, and so on. I love that Fraser-Swan's line, Emerson, is feminine and girly but has that punk girl feel to it. It's the way I like think of myself. These girls also had a killer soundtrack to walk down the runway to....Lorde, Rancid, and the Ramones (just to name a few). I mean I was even rocking out in my seat (probably why some of my photos came out blurry).
In this collection Fraser-Swan created three custom prints: Garden Gate, Allium Flower Field and Painted Hounds Tooth. The Allium Flower Field print, it reminded me of the mirror print that was big this spring/summer, I'm glad that it's making an appearance again. Also looks like we will be extending our houndstooth from Fall 2013 to Spring 2014.

For the past 2 seasons I have covered Mara Hoffman's collections and this season I was just as excited about her show. Her shows are always so bright and fun. I mean, I am the beachy boho girl at heart. Hoffman's Spring 2014 collection was about "straight up happiness" (style.com), which was seen and felt with neon embroidery to beautiful bright tribal prints.
In Hoffman style there was plenty of crop tops, bathing suits, and maxi dresses...and I needed all of them. Some of the prints did remind me a bit of Kenzo and some of the sweaters were something we saw from Hoffman last season, a little more light weight but similar cuts. I did love the 90s tie dye effect, I see another diy project coming for Spring 2014. I also loved the hair for this collection, the long Native American style braid with with ribbon wrapped around and in it.

Photos taken by Greg Yakubov and featuring my cousin Jessica of Pins, Needles, Fashion
I barely ever remember to take outfit photos. Between running to shows and running into friends for a bit, I just I feel like there is never enough time...or even enough energy. I'm not sure how all these style bloggers do it (besides some of them having their photogs there with them)! Luckily, my cousin, Jessica of Pins, Needles, Fashion, and her boyfriend (her photographer -- Greg Yakubov) were attending the same show as me and we had time to do some styling photos. Which really means me abusing her boyfriend for style photos. It always nice to have a fresh eye, and someone who actually does photography. We also just so happened to be near by a Vogue photographer who was shouting commands at me which actually was super helpful...since I'm always so awkward in front of a camera. If you read this, thanks buddy! Anyway, if you remember I had posted this outfit on my prep for fashion week post and now you actually got to see what it looks like put together!
Now...off to day 4 of MBFW!
