{Date Night Edition} How to Wear a Bodysuit

Date Night | The Bodysuit

Bodysuits are super sexy and are best to be worn on a date night or out on the town. Of course you want to look sultry on a date night but not over the top sexual. Playing with sheer with layerings over a bodysuit can help you a achieve that sultry look without giving to much away. It finds that happy balance.

The Bodysuit. Pick a body suit that is dark in color and has some sort of design detail; lace, polka dots, etc. You want it to be able to peek a bit through under your sheer top but still blend into the look.

Sheer Black Button Down. Black because it will keep from your undergarment appearing to much. Sheer to show just enough of the bodysuit and not have it look like you are wearing underwear out. Unbutton the shirt just enough to have a bit of the body suit showing.

Black Jeans. This is to keep the constituency of the whole look. Plus black is instantly slimming. You can even do dark wash jeans if you choose.

Metallic Pumps. To keep the look from going Gothic, add a pop with shoes. Metallic shoes are perfect to be paired with all black assembles, they help give the look a wow fact.

Neutral Clutch. Go for a neutral clutch like white or nudes. This is another way of bringing in some other colors but letting the shoes and bodysuit doing the talking.

With a bodysuit there is no need to change into anything else more comfortable after your date...if you know what I mean! Plus there is something about bodysuits that give you that sexy empowered feeling. There's no better way to feel while out on the town or on a date with your partner.

What do you think about this look? Would you wear a bodysuit on a date?

I can't believe summer is coming to an end! The summers always go by too fast...even more so as a grown up. Less days to be taken advantage of. Not enough beach days. Never enough beach days in my summer anymore. Thankfully I had a wonderful honeymoon and will be making my way back to Hawaii in November, so at least that makes up for all the lost beach time this summer.

The T-Shirt Dress 2 Ways

The T-Shirt Dress 2 Ways

Simple dressing has become my new uniform. I love how a simple t-shirt dress can transition throughout the week. You can dress it up with heels for a night look or throw on sneakers to run errands. It's a staple classic must have piece in every woman's closet.

How to Wear it on the Weekends

Weekends are all about kicking back and relaxing. We all love our sweats but our weekend looks should also be about still looking effortlessly chic. This doesn't mean getting all dolled up or even doing your hair. The t-shirt dress is simple to throw on and go. To keep the look cool throw on a denim jacket and a baseball cap. This look is perfect to run your weekend errands.

Don't be mistaken the t-shirt dress can also be sexy. A body-con dress can show off all your curves. A midi length t-shirt dress with a thigh-high slit shows just enough skin while leaving something to the imagination. Pair with your favorite heels and embellished clutch, this will help give the look the pop it needs. Of course, a sexy red lip to finish it off.

How would you wear the t-shirt dress?

This past Saturday my husband and I attended the Jazz Age Lawn Party at Governors Island. The 1920's is one of my favorite time periods for fashion and music. Any reason to play dress up to me is a good one. Plus I got to some use out of my wedding accessories again, the BHLDN headpiece and Anthropologie clutch! I loved seeing how adults and kids dressed for the occasion. The music and vibe was so on point. What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon then to be listening to Jazz Music, watching special acts and sipping on St. Germain drinks. O also watching Bill Cunningham snapping shots of couples dancing on the dance floor.

Foodie Friday: Lemon Chicken Legs

 photo LemonChicken_zps96aa5b76.png

Summer food to me is all about freshness and zestiness. The husband and I one Saturday morning were watching The Pioneer Woman on the Food Network Channel where she made these lemon chicken legs. This to me sounded like a great Sunday night dinner paired with a little side salad.

Ingredients
- 4 Chicken Legs (I used 4 legs for 2 people)
- 3 Lemons
- handful of garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper to taste

Steps:
1. Place chicken legs into plastic zip lock bag. I placed 2 legs in two freezer size zip lock bags.
2. Slice lemons in half so that you end up with 6 halves. Squeeze lemon juice into zip lock bags over the chicken. 3 halves into one back and 3 halves into the other bag.
3. Take your knife and use the back side to mash the garlic. Once you have your garlic cut up place divide half and place into your zip lock bags.
4. I added 1 tablespoon into each zip lock bag. If you are doing 4 legs in one bag I would double and do 2 tablespoons.
5. Add salt and pepper to taste
6. Close your ziplock back tightly. Shake zip lock back making sure that everything gets mixed up.
7. Place ziplock bags into the fridge to let marinate. It can be 2 or more hours.
8. Once you're ready to cook your chicken pre-heat your oven at 450 degrees
9. Take chicken legs out of the zip lock bag and place on a cooking rack. Now is the time to add more pepper and salt if you think it needs it.
10. Place chicken into the oven. Let it cook until golden brown.
11. Serve hot with your favorite summer side.

I bet these would taste amazing thrown on the grill! Lemon grilled chicken served with lemon grilled shrimp...mmm I'm making my own mouth water. Anyway my husband was a happy camper with the way that these turned out. Even though he was just happy that I actually cooked dinner. I'm more of a baking gal if you couldn't tell by now.

What is your favorite summer meals?

How to Wear a Sequin Skirt During the Daytime

Day Time Look: The Sequin skirt

I like to step out of the box sometimes when it comes to fashion. That includes wearing a sequin skirt during the day. I mean really who said you couldn't anyway? The best thing to remember when it comes to pairing something dramatic during the day is to keep everything else basic.

How I Wore the Look:

There are three key basics every woman should have in her closet; a simple white tee, flats, and a chambray shirt. The best thing about these basics are that they won't cost you much to have. These basics can take you from super casual look to dressing a statement piece more casually. I love tying a chambray top around my waist, it's functional during the summer (you have something to throw on when your inside a place blasting the AC) and it keeps your outfit looking casually cool. This look is a fun outfit to take to a brunch with friends or if you are so lucky, a casual day at the office to after work cocktails. The look can take you from day to night by switching out flats for heels and a red lip.

Would you dare to wear a sequin skirt during the day?

Kimono: H&M | Top: Old Navy | Pants: H&M | Shoes: Urban Outfitters | Necklace: c/o UNA | Bag: Coach |
Hat: Urban Outfitters | Sunglasses: Aldo

I love starting an outfit with a clean palette then building on top of the look. Not cluttering it, but just adding pieces to make a bolder statement. An all white look can look too starchy, to beak it up I added a colorful kimono, a wide-brim hat to give it that boho feel, and the UNA dagger necklace. Each of these pieces on their own are subtle but when put together they make a fashion statement.

Fashion statements don't always have to be in the look of the clothes but in the actual statement that the company is making. UNA uses recycled and organic materials to create their one of a kind pieces of jewelry. Their dagger necklace is beautiful and the materials used to make this necklace is unique and bold. The necklace was created from the recycled remnants of war in Cambodia. "Skilled artisans expertly handcraft the jewelry using metal from land mines and unexploded ordinance (UXO) gathered from local NGO's. UNA creates beauty from a marred past and supports skilled artisans transform their future." UNA's statement is a strong beautiful one that they are making within the fashion industry and the world. They also take a firm stance on the fair trade movement for ensuring living wages, safe working conditions, and gender equity. This is a company that I feel every woman and fashionista should get behind.

Foodie Friday: Easy Brownie S'mores

 photo SmoreBrownies_zpse87c8c2d.png

After eating a bunch of meat and cheeses at the little picnic my husband and I threw for ourselves we both wanted some sweets. So we decided to hit the grocery store to whip something easy up.
Baking aisle brainstorming: pre-made graham cracker crust, fudge brownie mix, and marshmallows...BAM Brownie S'mores!

What you need:
- Brownie Mix + what the brownie mix calls for
- Small Marshmallows
- Pre-made Graham Cracker Crust (we used two 6 packs of Keebler Mini Graham Cracker Crust)

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to the temperature of what your brownie mix calls for.
2. Mix your brownie mix together.
3. Once you have your brownie mix ready to go, fill your graham cracker crust up a little more then half way.
4. Once all filled, place into the oven to bake. Follow the time on your box but remove about 10 to 5 minutes before fully cooked.
5. Take brownies out before fully cooked and sprinkle on top your marshmallows. Place back in the oven until cooked/marshmallows are golden brown.
**OPTIONAL** Instead of taking the brownies out before they are cooked let them fully cook. Take out of oven and sprinkle marshmallows on top. Place in broiler until marshmallows are golden brown.
6. Enjoy the ooie-gooey yumminess!
