Travel Style: Baby Wearing About Town

 photo charleston2_zpsaqvchnyy.png

Baby wearing has become one of my favorite things. I just love being able to hold Austin and feel connected with him. I have a bit of an obsession now with my Wildbird ring sling. It's so easy to use and lightweight enough to travel around with. The sling came in hand throughout our trip. It is light weight enough to throw at the bottom of the stroller since Austin usually has enough of being wheeled around in his stroller and wants to be held. Plus it was great to have him in a sling while we ate lunch and dinner. I love that he's able to look around and take in the outside world...it's also one of his favorite napping spot. I always get so many compliments on my ring sling, but I received a lot while out in Charleston. I love being able to support small independent shops like Wildbird. So if you're a mama or papa I highly suggest take a peek at them.

Travel Style: Pocket Full of Sunshine

 photo sunshine_zpsh1a7achp.png

Minus the hot weather and sunshine, the other thing I really loved about Charleston was the colorful buildings everywhere. The pastel colored buildings weren't only limited to just Rainbow Row but could be found pretty much everywhere in Charleston. We stayed in the French Quarter so it was easy to find some pops of colors...as well as fun art work on sides of buildings.

Travel Style: Rainbow Row

 photo rainbow row6_zpswor0unt4.png

My husband and I just took our son on his first family vacation! We decided that we wanted to celebrate our 4 year anniversary down in Charleston since we heard nothing but good things about the people, food, and the city. Plus, it was a short flight (a total of 2 1/2 hours)! Austin did really well on his first flight(s) which shocked both of us! Because you never know with a two month old. I really loved this city. I loved how friendly the people of Charleston were and how they were totally cool with a two month old in their establishments. Everyone was nothing but welcoming. We spent our first day in Charleston exploring Rainbow Row and the pier. It's so amazing how much history this city has and how picturesque it all is. It's so charming.

Mom Style: Momista

 photo mom life_zpsflcs4iey.png

One thing I didn't want to lose when I became a mom was myself and my style. Sure I have to be more mindful of the clothing I wear...aka can I easily nurse in this? Is it easy to clean? Will baby spit up ruin it? With all that in mind I knew it restricted some clothes that I gravitate too, but also has allowed me to tap more of my boho style, like this Lulu's dress. I absolutely love the flow of this dress and the easy access for nursing. I love that it can easily be paired with a bralette. I like the one that I chose from Aerie to keep it a little more modest for a "mom" look.  Plus it's convertible strapless bra (easier to nurse with no straps). I actually want this bralette in loca verde and morocaan sunset.

Mom Style: Nursing Friendly Dresses

I'm currently exclusively breastfeeding which means strategically picking out clothes that would work for both me and my baby. With that said I don't want to compromise on my style...Plus it's finally warm out which means cute spring/summer dresses. So I've been trying out different styles that are nursing friendly. Here's a mix of nursing dresses and nursing friendly dresses.

NURSING DRESSES:

Jacket: c/o POOF | Dress: Hello Miz Maternity | Sneakers: H&M | Bag: Pottery Barn Kids | Sunglasses: Forever2

I had bought this Hello Miz Maternity dress while still pregnant but never got to wear it while pregnant, but have worn it a couple of times now post. I love that it has the lift up access which makes it easy and quick for nursing. I do however wish I sized up, I don't think my pregnant belly would have even fit into this dress. I bought a small and should have went with a medium. Advice, if you go with this dress size up!

Pinkblush hands down has been my favorite maternity shop. Cute, affordable, and functional...what more could you want from a boutique? I had gotten this dress with the summer in mind, I mean hello Hawaiian print! The cross function of this dress works perfectly for nursing the little one, plus it looks good pregnant and post pregnancy.

NURSING FRIENDLY STYLES:

I have spent a lot of time online window shopping while nursing Austin since I was excited about buying some new post pregnancy clothing. Except I had to keep in mind my new mom duties, which includes nursing friendly pieces. So with that in mind I looked for dresses that are button downed, criss crossed front, or looser top.

Dress: Lulus | Bralette: Urban Outfitters | Sandals: Old Navy | Sunglasses: Forever21

This Lulu's dress is probably my summer favorite. I love the boho loose feel to it. It's one of those throw on and go dresses. I also love that it looks good with a bralette, which is important as since you know milk leaks.

Dress: Madewell | Sandals, Bag, and Sunglasses: Forever21 | Ring Sling: Wild Bird

Button down front dresses are also another convenient style for nursing. Allowing easy access to the boobies without any hassle. Luckily, I already had a couple of these style dresses in my wardrobe which included this denim shirt dress from Madewell (similar styles herehere, and here). Shirt dresses are also perfect for going back to work, since another thing to consider if pumping (if you continue to breastfeed).

Style Guide: Spring Shopping Guide All Under $100

I'm so ready to do some Spring shopping! I'm loving the linen trend this season like the Urban Outfitters linen midi skirt. I'm also craving some boho vibes like the American Eagle wide leg jumpsuit. I have also taken in consideration more nursing friendly features like wrap dresses and button up tops. Now if only the weather will get on board with my mood.

Maternity Photoshoot

 photo maternityshoot4_zps8waoyjxo.jpg

I really wanted to do a maternity photoshoot and it took us awhile to scour the internet to find a photographer who matched our aesthetic. A lot of maternity photographers are focused on the body, which is beautiful, but I'm just not that type of person. I really wanted photos that not only captured me and my belly, but of my husband and I. We didn't have many photos of us together through this evolution of just us to three. I was so happy when I came across Amy Frances photography's web page...her aesthetic matched our personality and her photos were just so sincere and beautiful.

We pulled the trigger and at week 36 we did our photoshoot. You would think that as a blogger I would feel comfortable in front of a camera...but to be honest I still get pretty camera shy. Especially in front of someone I don't know. As soon as I opened our home to Amy, she felt like a friend. Warm and inviting. She put us at ease by talking to us and asking us just silly questions to make us comfortable and laughing. It was really hard to choose which ones to share here without going crazy as I love all of them. My favorite photos are of Brian and I laughing and smiling. That is our relationship through and through. We have known each other for 14 years, together for 10 years, and married for 3 years. We started out as very close friends in college, and never in my wildest dreams did I ever think we would date let alone end up married and expecting our first. We were friends and our love for one another grew into something beautiful and special. Our relationship has always been one of love and laughter. He is my rock. My soulmate. My best friend.

Style Guide: Spring Kicks

I know it's been a minute since I posted but this winter has left me unmotivated to do any sort of outfit photos. We had four Noreasters in one month! I mean seriously, I'm ready for Spring weather! With hopefully warmer weather on the way and a baby boy soon to arrive, I really am in the mood to go Spring shopping. Including getting some new Spring inspired sneakers. I'm loving all the pinks and florals for the season. With the new season here I'm feeling a bit more refreshed and ready to start up again. So I'm back with my picks for some spring kicks. With having a baby on the way new sensible sneaks that I can throw on and go for walks with him are heavily on my must have list. I'm obsessed with the Keds x Rifle Paper Co. collection. I love the brightly colored floral sneaks to the palm leave sneaks. Another must have on my list has been the pink llama Soludos sneaks! They are just so adorable. For something more usual and everyday I love the mustard yellow Vans. I haven't worn a pair of Vans since college. I mean that is pretty much literally all I wore. I had so many different pairs and I think its time for pair.

What is on your Spring shopping list?

Weekend Wear: Pearl of a Saturday

 photo pearls5_zpsn0yezksf.png

Nothing makes me happier than days that I can walk around comfortably holding and drinking an iced coffee. If winter was always in the 50s I'd be a happy chick. Less layers and still be able to drink ice coffee...winning. I'm so happy that I decided to buy this Zara sweater tunic, it was on sale and I couldn't pass up the pearls on the sleeves. Plus, a price tag of $15. I have feeling this will be in high rotation in my wardrobe even post pregnancy.

Style Guide: How to Wear Non-maternity Clothes While Pregnant

 photo nonmaternity5_zps4utjpzkt.png

One thing I have learned about being pregnant is that just because I'm pregnant it doesn't mean I have to wear strictly maternity clothes. This is the season for sales, and as a budgetista I can't pass up a good sale. So even while pregnant I have been finding clothes that fit my now belly and will also transition with me post bump. A couple of things to look for while shopping the non-maternity section with bump:

1. Look for clothing with a stretch. This Free People top is super stretchy and soft. Mostly made of polyester with some rayon and polyester. Stretchy doesn't mean tight. Make sure that you feel comfortable, don't feel like you are squeezing you and tummy. This goes for tops and dresses. Opt for ribbed texture materials.

2. Length is important. Stretchy and long is super important when wearing a top with a bump. You want it to fit all the way over the bump securely concealing you maternity waist band.

3. As for dresses...Opt for under the bust flowy dresses or flowy dresses in general; like this boho flowy Free People dress or this loose fitted oversize t-shirt dress from ASOS. I also like maxi dresses that are button down and are loose..which are perfect if you plan on breast feed.

4. Try on in store. To feel more secure about your purchases, try shopping in-store so you can feel the material and try it on (bring in a couple of sizes into the fitting room with you).

5. Shop maternity stores that have clothes that have transitional clothing. PinkBlush being one of my favorite boutiques have dresses and tops that take you from bump to post bump. Also have functional clothing that takes you to nursing.
