2017 personally was one for the books. It has been a milestone year for me, from announcing that we are expanding our little family in March 2018 to finishing grad school. Plus, the pure luck of getting to vacation in Hawaii twice and visiting DC as a grown up during the cherry blossom season. We also finally made it back to Chicago to visit my best friend. This year politically has been a rough one, especially when it feels like everyday might be dooms day. But 2017 has personally been a sweet little blessing. And I know that 2018 will just be something truly magical when we have Baby C in our arms.

I hope everyone has a Happy and Healthy New Year! CHEERS!

Maternity Style: Winter Coat

 photo Maternity Coat_zpsrduacyhx.png

Functional, practical, and pricing have been my three main focuses when buying maternity clothes. Though I may think of expanding our family again, you never know when you'll actually be pregnant so to be spending a lot of money on clothes you'll only end up wearing for a few months didn't make sense. I knew one item I had to spend money on was a new winter coat. I did a lot of searching and waiting until I came across the right jacket. I wanted something that will keep me warm but still was fully functional post baby. I came across a few designs that had removable extended panels for pregnancy. Then I am across the Kimi + Kai Arlo Jacket which came with a cover insert for baby carrier. I loved this because Baby C is due in late March, and as any New York knows March and April are pretty unpredictable months. We always seem to get our last bout of snowstorms in March. With that thought I knew that a cover insert for me would be ideal. I was hesitant on the whole puffer, down jacket thing. I haven't worn a puffer jacket since college...though after last winter I've been saying I should really get one. So I did. I snagged the Kimi + Kai jacket as a birthday present. Though I came close to getting this ASOS one.

Jacket: Kimi and Kai | Sweater: ASOS | Jeans: Articles of Society via Macy's | Boots: Zara | Bag: Coach | Hat: Joe Fresh

I will say the one thing I don't like about this coat is how narrow it as a the bottom. I have wider set thighs so the bottom is this jacket is a bit snug. So I do wish that it had a cut in the back for extra movement. But after taking it out in the snow this past weekend, it kept me warm and dry. Plus, I like that I don't need the extra layers to be warm, aka a scarf. Which means less layers I need to strip off myself on the train, because being hot and preggo on the train is no fun. In the end worth the money.

Maternity Style: The Holiday Jumpsuit with PinkBlush

 photo Jumpsuit_zps8juenbvt.png

I'm all about a good jumper and transitional pieces. When it came to my maternity wear I knew I didn't want to spend a lot and if I could get away with wearing it after baby, then even better! PinkBlush has been my go to for maternity wear after discovering them through simple Google searches. So it was a no brainer that I would turn to them for a fun festive piece for the season. I love that this jumper is perfect for the holidays and after. I plan on wearing this little number to Christmas dinner. It's super comfy, light weight (thank god because I've been so hot these past few weeks), plus roomy enough for an expanding food belly. I can see it be being worn with heels, boots (my go to style during the winter), and a pair of mules. Most importantly this piece is not only for the mamas-to-be. This can take you from during and after the pregnancy. Also easy access to the boobies.

I also came very close to ordering this yummy velvet jumper but decided that I myself probably wouldn't wear it more than at least once. It's still one of my favorite picks for the holidays. Especially if you are feeling the velvet trend this season.

Weekend Wear: Christmas Cheer

 photo christmas bear_zpswcvuuqyj.png

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. What is there not to love? Hot coco, cookies, lights, glitter, and holiday cheer with friends and family. You couldn't imagine my complete joy of opening a box of fun Christmas sweaters thanks to Poof Apparel. I'm all about fun Christmas apparel because life is too short to not have a little fun. I love that this little polar bear sweater is extra fluffy and soft, plus the bear fit perfectly over my bump.

I look forward to this time of year, not only because of all the goodies but my husband and I have started our own little family traditions which include over decorating our apartment, trimming the tree while listening to xmas music and drinking hot apple cider, and having an at home Christmas Eve dinner. I can't wait to start new ones with Baby C. On Black Friday I found the cutest plate and glass set for Santa. I can't wait to have Baby C leave cookies out for Santa on it.

What are your favorite Holiday traditions?

Maternity Style: Holiday Look from Day to Night

 photo pholiday4_zpsrfatdm3p.png

Tis the season for dressing the bump! Just because you're carrying doesn't mean you can't get festive. And there's no better way to get all festive then with a flowy skirt. These skirts are perfect for any occasion from dressy to more relaxed. Plus, I love that skirt from ASOS is perfect work day to party skirt. Since I'm the type of girl that just like to go from work to party pairing this skirt with a turtleneck and booties for a workday look was perfect. Opt for a slinky tank top and strappy heels for a dresser occasion.

Outfit Post: In Everything Give Thanks

 photo Thanksgiving5_zpsfrnutwpf.png

This year I have a lot to be thankful for. The biggest thing I'm thankful for is the little bean that I'm growing inside of me. I can not begin to tell you the joy in my heart that I already feel for this little boy. I feel very blessed to have a loving and caring husband as well as a network of supportive and loving friends and family. As well as a those who connect with me through this blog. Even though I feel a bit crazed right now with my graduate school coming to an end (trying to finish my Capstone and other projects) and prepping for Baby C, I still can't help but feel very thankful and lucky for where I am right now.

I've always been a huge fan of leggings, especially on the weekends. Now that I'm four months pregnant I have fully embraced leggings into my wardrobe full time. I have a couple pairs of maternity jeans but there is nothing like a good pair of soft leggings. I'm a fan of the over the belly panels, which isn't surprising since pre pregnancy I was a high waist junkie. I love the extra lift and comfort they give to a growing belly.

I love pairing a long tunic top with a pair of leggings for a work day look and on the weekends a quick throw on and go sweater. I'm not one for spending a lot of money on maternity wear so I have turned to H&M, Old Navy, and ASOS as my go to for maternity clothes.

It's been super cold here in NYC and my body is in shock. Nothing like coming back from 80 degree weather to 30 degree weather. And since now it feels more like winter than it does fall all I want is hot coco. Also might be Baby C talking as well. So on Saturday before we hit up Buy Buy Baby I made the husband make a mandatory pit stop at Colson Pastries for some hot coco. It was exactly what I had been craving all week. Nothing like a cozy oversized knit and hot coco on a cold Saturday.
