Inspirational Monday: Earth Day
This Friday April 22nd is Earth Day. Here's a bit of history about Earth Day "The first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network (EDN) works with over 22,000 partners in 192 countries to broaden, diversify and mobilize the environmental movement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. (Earthday.org)." Friend Friday: Gratitude
As we get older we have more things to be thankful for in life like our friends, family, where we are, who we are, etc.. I am thankful everyday for my friends and family without them I wouldn't have the fond moments, the laughter, and the great moments that have made my life. This Friend Friday we celebrate the birthday of FBFF by showing our gratitude.
Gratitude
1. When it comes to be personally – I owe a lot of who I am to: My parents. They raised me to be a strong independent woman and I am proud of who I am today because of them. I know that I've always wanted to make my parents proud and even when I've done stupid things they've always had my back and supported me. Without their love, support, and their teachings I def. wouldn't be the person I am today.

2. When it comes to be professionally – I owe a lot of who I am to: My aunt Angela, may she rest in peace. My very first real job was interning at Citigroup where my aunt was head of the human resource department. I was 14 or 15 when I first started interning during the summers there. I knew nothing about the business world but she taught me a lot about how to hold yourself as a woman in the work place. She was a strong woman who even through breast cancer worked hard and played hard. She was well respected and even though she was a tough cookie everyone loved her. I miss her everyday and I wish she was alive to see me slowly become the woman that I am but I know she is up there watching me from above and I know she continues to guide me. I will always carry her teachings in my head.
3. When it comes to the art of blogging, I’m grateful to these people for helping me through some rough spots: ...not a lot people knew I started blogging and I don't know a lot of other bloggers but the very first person to know that I started out on this venture was my boyfriend. The poor guy has dealt with me talking his ear off about fashion shows, other bloggers, and what I have been up to in the blogging world. I've also have dragged him to a fashion event. I know he loves me and cares enough about my craft because he lets me go on and on. He's also always there to give me some sort of advice. The other person I owe a lot of thanks to is my best friend and college roommate. Every time I have news about something or some event coming up she always gets so excited for me. It always makes me feel good about what I'm doing and what I'm putting out there.

4. One blogging challenge I’m grateful happened because it made me stronger was…I haven't had any real blogging hurdles...yet. I am grateful for that.
5. To my readers, I’d like to say…I deeply appreciate everyone who stops by my blog to read and to comment. When I first started this blog I never thought it would become what it is and really I owe it to everyone who reads this and comments. I don't know if I would have continued on without receiving any comments at all. I remember when I first first first started I didn't receive any and I was a little put down by it but slowly my blog started to grow. I can't put into words how honored I am to have followers and to have commenters. I look forward everyday seeing who left comments on what I posted. R&Em Spring 2011
Not to long ago did I do a post on scoring the perfect Spring bags for less (which you can find here). Well R&Em released their Spring 2011 Lookbook yesterday featuring blogger Keiko Lynn. R&Em is a bag company that you can only find on Macys.com and at Macy's stores. Their bags are young, flirty, and are full of life, their prices ranges from as low as $18 to as high as $100.

Adolfo Sanchez Fall 2011
Way back in February during NY Fashion Week I went to this event for the Nolcha Fashion Week at the Empire Hotel. First a little background on Nolcha Fashion Week- "Nolcha is an award-winning leading global platform advancing the business of independent fashion designers and retailers via social e-commerce, fashion week events and an educational video portal. (Nolcha Fashion Week.com). " The event was set up at the Empire Hotel rooftop bar and independent fashion designers had set up in little areas around the room showcasing some of their work. I was fortunate enough to meet a few talented fashion designers there two of them who I wrote about here were the duo from Abreu Rios and another designer Adolfo Sanchez. Sanchez is a Los Angeles designer who created his ready to wear woman's line back in 2006. He recently debuted his Fall 2011 line during the LA Fashion Week and thanks to Sanchez and his PR team they sent me a copy of the lookbook, which I have been dieing to share with you all! His collection is full of crisp sharp lines and plenty of details. Lots of pleating, leather details, and fur in this collection. One of my favorite looks is the leather detail dress with transparent sleeves and the pleated skirt paired with oversized fur purse. The leather detail to me really stands out paired with the elegant transparent sleeve and the pleated skirt. The sleeves and the skirt add a feminine effect against the edgy leather detail. This dress can be totally biker chicked out with leather military style boots or softened up with a simple pair of pumps or even a pair of vibrant red pumps. I also just love the oversize fur clutch called Magna-Oso, it's so unique and totally stands out on its own.
Another one of my favorites is the ballroom gown called Esti-Rosa. The one shoulder detail gives the dress character and interest, also the transparency in the top gives it a bit of edginess and sexiness without giving to much away. The movement in the skirt is quiet fluid and there really is nothing like a long elegant flowly ballroom gown. This is a dress that I can see being worn down the red carpet of the Oscars since it has everything a woman is looking for: sex appeal, edge, and a stand out detail.
This collection is all about edginess and sex appeal with low cut dress, short hem lines, and leather details. These looks could be soften up or taken to their full potential of biker girl chic. His dresses are what every woman needs, a good night out on the town dress. They are sleek and sexy with the perfect eye catching details that will show of your curves and flatter your body.
I can see his work being the go to dress for a night out with the girls or for a hot date. His dresses are fun, flirty, and sexy but have an edginess and a coolness to them. Men will apperciate the short hem lines and the flirty tops but woman will love the details, the cuts, and the way it shapes their body. To learn more about Adolfo Sanchez check out his website here.
