Ringing in 2016 in Mexico | Paris | Florence | Anniversary Stay-cation | Beyonce concert with my Mom | Meeting Ice-T on the streets of New York | Hanging with Oscar the Grouch at Sesame Place | Turning 30 | Seeing the Holiday Lights in Dyker Heights | Happy Holidays from the Cavanaughs

This year much like every year, it flew by with a wink of an eye. 2016 personally was a busy year that was filled with memories. Hands down the best of 2016 was traveling to Pairs and Florence. Also meeting my niece. Moving to Bay Ridge into a bigger apartment. O and turning 30.

I rang in 2016 with a very relaxing celebratory way in Mexico! We will be ringing 2017 in a much different way this year. The husband and I will be low key, spending the evening at home with a special dinner, watching the ball drop from the comfort of our couch with a toast at midnight. How ever you plan on spending the New Year Year, I hope it's a happy and safe one.

Here's to another year!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm so ready for the Holidays to be here. I'm ready for a break from work and school. The end of the year is always so busy, work, school, life...I'm ready for it to be quite and calm on Christmas Eve...or Christmas Eve eve as I have that day off. This weekend was spent baking cookies, finishing up final projects for school, and doing some Christmas shopping.

Sometimes putting on pants seems more like a chore more then necessary. I've been living in leggings more and more on the weekends. This look was super cozy and perfect to walk around the hood to admire some of the Holiday decor. I picked up these Aerie leggings the other week and I'm so happy I did. I need MORE of them. I'm not kidding when I say I might go back and also get them in black. I love that they are thick and tight.

Holiday Gift of Giveaways: Elf Cosmetics

 photo IMG_9489_zps2qwhbbxi.gif

Start the new year off right with bright and healthy skin thanks to ELF Cosmetics. I've been a ELF Beauty Squad member for a year now and I can attest that their products are legit. They might not have the sticker price of high end beauty products but they do have the quality to stand next to them and other drug store brands. Thanks to being a Elf Squad I'm giving ONE LUCKY READER a chance to win some of my favorite ELF products.

This Stocking Bundle in includes:

1x Hydrating Bubble Mask -- This product makes washing your face so much fun! It's like pop rocks but for your face. It foams on your face, then crackles, feeling and sounding like pop rocks, then you wash off once all the bubbles pop leaving your skin clean.

1x Pore Refining Brush and Masking Tool -- Get your face looking fresh and clean with this beauty tool. No need to worry about transporting dirty and oil from your fans to your face. Simply dip your brush into the Bubble Mask and smooth on evenly. You can also use this brush to apply foundation.

1x Hydrating Gel Mask -- The winter months can leave your skin dry and dull. With the Hydrating Gel Mask it will leave your skin smooth and hydrated. Unlike other products it won't leave your skin feeling oily and gross.

1x Illuminating Eye Cream -- Between working full time, going to grad school part time, hitting the gym somewhere in between there, and blogging...sleeping full 8hrs aren't happening most night. The Illuminating Eye Cream has been my saving grace on helping to eliminating those dark circles under my eyes and giving me bright healthy looking skin. Even on those 4 cups of coffee days.

1x Beautifully Bare Satin Lipstick in Touch of Berry -- If there's a beauty product I LOVE and can't go without...it's lipstick. Even on my bare face days I have to put on a touch of lipstick. ELF's beautifully bare lipsticks are my go to for the those days. Just a hint of color that's perfect for a bare face.

1x Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow in Wine Not-- It's the Holidays after all! I love dark rich colors for Holiday parties. This eye shadow pot is smooth and light with a perfect rich color for your Holiday celebrations.

ONE LUCKY WINNER will be chosen. The winner will win a ELF bundle prize of full size products of: Hydrating Bubble Mask, Pore Refining Brush and Masking Tool, Hydrating Gel Mask, Illuminating Eye Cream, Beautifully Bare Stain Lipstick and a Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow. Contest ends Sunday 11th at midnight.

Jacket: DKNY | Shirt: H&M | Pants: Promod | Shoes: 3.1 Phillip Lim (sample sale find!) | Bag: Marina Galanti | Sunglasses: NYC Street Vendor |  Necklaces: c/o Capwell + Co

Of course while in Paris I did little bit of shopping. I wish there was Promod shops in the states, not only cause of the European chicness but because these pants fit me perfectly! Finding a pair of pants that fit my thighs and waist...at the same time is nearly impossible. Hence why I either live in dresses, skirts or Madewell jeans. I wish I had bought these pants in every color.

Have you ever bought multiple pairs of an item?

Holiday Gift of Giveaways: A New Year, A New Scent with Phlur Fragences

 photo IMG_9406_zpsbs5j3b1j.jpg
c/o of Phlur

When I go shopping I like to be left alone, I don't need someone constantly asking me "Do you need help with any?" Especially when it comes to fragrances. I hate being harassed or sprayed or pressured. I like to take my time to test and smell different products. Well thanks to Phlur you get to skip all of the pain of shopping for a new fragrance. As we all know, fragrances smell different on skin then on paper and Phlur gets it. With Phlur you get to test the product on yourself at home. For $10 you get to test two products of your choice. Once you picked the scent that you like, you get the $10 credit towards your purchase. Plus, the sample size is worth a week of wear.

Not only will you smell good, but you'll feel good too. Phlur has made conscious decision to use eco friendly scents as well as bottles. Their products are free of known skin irritants, parabens, phthalates, unnecessary stabilizers and animal products. Since studies have shown that 1 in every 5 species of plants are threatened with extinction, they require that all of their fragrances adhere to IUCN's Red List of threatened plants. Also by purchasing a bottle of Phlur you are giving back, with every bottle Olmsted & Vaux, they donate $5 to the Central Park Conservancy.

Lucky for you we have team up with Phlur for ONE LUCKY WINNER to win their own bottle of Phlur Fragrances.  SEE BELOW FOR ENTRY AND CONTEST RULES.

Phlur fragrances are unisex fragrances which is one of my favorite parts about them. Since I'm not super into floral perfume smell, I'm more into the musky scents, Olmstead & Vaux is hands down my favorite. Phlur doesn't tell you want their scents of made of but instead give you an imagery of the type of person who would wear their scents. "Olmsted & Vaux, then, is your statement, strong enough for an impression but charming enough to intrigue. With its deceptive lightness, this has the strength to uplift at any point in your day." I mean who doesn't want to smell like that person? Plus they give you a soundtrack to the fragrances. Olmstead & Vaux included My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes, and Mumfords and Sons. Meanwhile, Hanami sounded just like me: "Hanami is bold without being loud, weightless but grounded."

Phlur makes the perfect gift for him or her this holiday season! Order them a Phlur sample, stuff it in their stocking, and let them pick their new scent.

One lucky read will a bottle of their choice of Phlur fragrances. Contest ends Sunday Dec. 4, 2016 at midnight.

Inspirational Monday: Velvet Crush

 photo velvet crush_zpsoqqxdmoa.png

I'm so happy that velvet has made a comeback this fall/winter season. And no I'm not talking about the velvet Juicy Couture track suits (somethings should just stay in the 90s). There is nothing like the feeling a smooth velvet. Velvet is perfect for the Holiday seasons. Velvet slip dress for a Holiday date night or velvet pants for a Holiday dinner with the family. I'm currently craving a pair of velvet booties or flats. I'm also happy that during my purge I didn't get rid of my velvet American Apparel leggings. I will be breaking those suckers out for Thanksgiving, especially since it's suppose to be in the 40s...and well leggings and Thanksgiving go hand and hand.

How to Wear the Kenzo for H&M Collection

 photo kenzo4_zps93tw1gsz.png

The Kenzo H&M collection was filled with wild colors, crazy prints, and interesting textures. This collection wasn't for everyone, it definitely appeals to a certain type of taste. Some of the pieces were a little too out there even for me. There were a few key pieces that I loved like the ruffle sweatshirts, the simple graphic tees, pile lined leather jacket and off the shoulder top. Some of which I thought were to expensive for H&M. So I ended up with just the ruffle sweater and graphic tee.

The ruffle sweater is bold, but I just love the ruffles along the collar line plus the graphic logo. It's a fun take on a casual sweater. I loved the tucked-in sweater in the high waisted jeans look. Paired with sneakers, makes a perfect Saturday outfit.

Did you buy anything from the Kenzo x H&M collection?

Cowboy boots are back this fall, so I broke out my old favorites that I scored at Urban Outfitters a couple of years ago. This trend is perfect to pair with the lace up sweater. Go sexy with a deep v and play with a cozy oversized jacket.

Weekend Wear: All Black...Almost Everything

 photo pop4_zpsoo1wpeyz.png
Sweater: LF Store | Pants: LF Store | Sneakers: Zara | Bag: Kate Spade | Sunglasses: NYC Street Vendor

I'm such a New Yorker, most of my clothes are in dark shades or neutrals. I do have pops of colors that are perfect way to break up solid colored clothes...esp. in an all black outfit. Adding a bag like my Kate Spade gives it that little pop that the look needs. Plus, with leather joggers it keeps the look edgy and cool even against a super feminine color.

This sweater from the LF Store is by far one of my favorite new sweaters. I picked it up on sale from their only sale of the season. I'm obsessed with the zipper sleeves that gives it that bad ass edgy vibe.
