NAILSPIRATION: Candy Canes

Since I'm in the Christmas spirit and Brian's office is having a small Christmas party I decided why not have fun with my nails and do a candy cane print.

What I used:

  • Sally Hansen White Tip
  • Essie Jelly Apple
  • - Sinful Colors Nail Art My Day
  • - Sinful Colors Nail Art Fashionista
  • - Essie No Chips a Head Top Coat

1. Start with painting all your fingers white (I used the Sally Hansen White Tip) minus on your ring finger. Remember to do TWO coats.

2. Go back to your ring finger and paint them a red color (I used Essie's Jelly Apple). Do two coats as well.

3. Once your nails are dried, steady your hand and start stripping your white nails using your red nail art paint (I used the Sinful Colors Nail Art My Day). I found it easier to start at the tip and work your way down.

4. Once you have all your white nails stripped go back to your red nails using either a silver glitter, gold glitter, or white nail art paint. I a silver glitter from Sinful Colors called Fashionista.

5. After your nails have dried go ahead and top coat them! DONZO! You now have candy cane nails!

What do you guys think? Will you try some fun Christmas nails?

Sorry I couldn't wait to wear this sweater again! I have LOTS of idea for this sweater and this was one of the first outfits I put together in my head when I tried it on. This outfit is day time appropriate and works for after work cocktails too. Also works for the holiday season for a casual party (just add pumps!). You can't go wrong with gold on gold around this time of year!

Inspirational Monday: Floppy Hats

Floppy Hats

I just a-d-o-r-e wide brim floppy hats. Floppy hats add a bit of sophistication to any outfit. It can add a pop of color or can add an little something extra to your over-all look. I like floppy hats that have a vintage feel but with a modern take to them. You can't help but feel classy and regal in a floppy hat especially when you pair your look with a fur piece. Just be careful with the extra floppy hats....since some of the wide brim hats are flimsy and tend to flop over your face leaving you blindly walking around. Which tends to happen to me wit my hat from H&M.

What do you think of the wide brim hat trend?

Outfit Post: Adventurous Saturdays

Cardigan: American Eagle
Sweater: LF Stores
Jeggings H&M
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbells
Sunglasses: Ray Bans
Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff

Last weekend when the bf and I were coming back from PA we noticed that at Brooklyn Bridge Park they now had a carousel. Thank you to Mother Nature that this past weekend was BEAUTIFUL..warm, sunny and everything I ever wanted for New York fall weather. It was in the high 60s so we made total use of the weather by checking out the Carousel down at the park. It really is such a genius idea to put a carousel in one of the prettiest parts of New York. You have the view of the city and the three bridges! Then we went back home and started to decorate for Christmas! I can not wait to bake all of my Christmas cookies!

Party Dresses: Neons

Make a pop this holiday season in a neon bright dress or with some bright accessories. A sexy little number will get you noticed but a bright playful dress will make a statement!

Bright and Sexy

Neon NYE

This season show some skin and try a cut out dress. We all know cleavage can sometimes be to much but bare some skin my showing a little of you back like the Motel Renee Sweetheart Dress ($40). If your looking for a little more back coverage the Miss Selfridge Scarlet Ladder Bodycon Dress ($59) is for you. This dress has a cut out effect both in the front and in the back. The good thing is that for the bustier girl who needs support this dress back is a bit higher so that you can still rock a bra if needed (stick with strapless if you can). When doing bright color dresses have fun and try to color block your look with a fun bag like the Asos Slot Through Portfolio Clutch ($36) and the Oversize Turnlock Clutch from bardot.com.au ($35). Stick with family colors like orange and yellow or orange and pink. If you do color block your dress with a colored purse stick with neutral colors for shoes and other accessories. Try a funky shoe like the Lush Leopard Strappy Sandals from Topshop ($130). Same rules apply when doing a printed shoe stick to neutral colored accessories.

Sassy and Classy

NEON Holdiay Party Dress

Bring some pop to your next office party with a pretty and simple colorful dress. Keep the look classic and chic with a simple fit and flare dress like the Mid Orange Volume Fit and Flare Dress from oasis-stores.com ($60). This dress has a classic and classy cut to it that will flatter every body type. If you're looking for something with a little more but still has that classic feel to it try the Asos Lace Dress With High Neck ($99). The lace adds a bit of femininity and the fit and flare with the high neck keeps it classic. Keeping with the classy look add a feminine timeless watch, which you don't have to break the bank on. Keep your watches nude to a neutral color since you want a clean palette when pairing it up with a bright dress. Keep your shoes and other accessories a neutral color as well. If you want to spice it up just a bit try to color block a bit with your purse but don't go to bright. Do a duller bright like the dorothyperkins.com Pink/red chain clutch bag ($28) or the Asos Slot Through Portfolio Clutch ($36).

For those who don't want to go TO BRIGHT this season try pairing up your darker looks with bright accessories.

Outfit Post: Getting Floppy

Shirt worn as a dress: Apart
Tank tunic worn as a slip: Barney's COOP
Sweater: H&M
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Coat: Elie Tahari
Boots: Deena & Ozzy from Urban Outfitters
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Necklace: H&M
Tights: H&M

So I went to Urban Outfitters last week and hit up their sales rack where I found the hat and the boots! The hat was on sale for $10 and the shoes well I get SUPER LUCKY! They originally were on sale for $39 then there was 30% off their boots so it came out to $27! HELL YES! I also can't stop wearing these booties! They are so comfortable! They are light weight and it doesn't even feel like your are wearing heels. Definitely the most comfortable pair of heels that I own right now. These booties are the PERFECT replacement to my H&M booties...exactly what I've been looking for.

Jac5 for Men

The holiday season is here and it's time to start thinking about gifts. I find myself pondering every year what to get my boyfriend and every year I get him boxers as a stocking stuffer...because really nothing beats getting him the essentials like boxers and simple under-shirts, since these are the stuff that he sometimes doesn't get himself. I usually stick with brands like Hanes and American Eagle, but this year I'm going more lux and going with Jac5. Like woman, nothing says sexy like a well fitted, comfortable underwear. Come on we all feel our sexiest when we know we have something sexy underneath. So why not make your man feel sexy with a comfortable pair of boxers. I love Jac5's range in underwear. They have briefs, boxers, and boxer-briefs in all sorts of styles. They have bold underwear and then they have the classics for the classic men in your life.

Friend Friday: I'm Thankful For...

It's the Friday before Thanksgiving an you know what that means....time to start cutting back on junk food in prep of stuffing your face with turkey and candy yams....to list what you are thankful for!

1. My wonderful, sweet, loving, caring, supportive, creative, and handsome boyfriend. Without him outfit post wouldn't be the same ...my life would be pretty dull. He helps me get through my bad days and is there to have fun with me...every day. He puts up with me and my singing and every other crazy aspect of me. I love the simple and little things we do even if that means just sitting on the couch next to each other....on separate laptops....or catching up on our DVR. He's my best friend and the love of my life and I couldn't be more thankful for him.

2. My parents. Literally without them I wouldn't be here....They have been my best friends for 25 years and I don't see that friendship ending anytime soon. Sure they make me mad sometimes but I couldn't ask for more loving, caring, and supportive parents. No matter what they have been there for me...late at night phone calls crying over a boy or to celebrating the big and small things in life.

3. My friends. Crazy as they are I love each and every single one of them. Even when we all wear matching shirts out to a nice restaurant to eat banana foster or have me walking in circles looking for some restaurant that we can't find or singing out loud in the middle of the street. They make me smile and do stupid things...that I never regret most of the time. Without them my whole life would be boring. I wouldn't have the stories I have, which would be a shame, and I wouldn't be the same person I am today.

4. My family. They are crazy...all of them...but then again who's family isn't. I got pretty lucky growing up with a close knit family. I always had my aunts, uncles and cousins around....and continue to do so.

my cousins and I when we were kids. Can you tell which one is me?!

5. My readers and blog followers. Without you guys I might have stopped this blog a long time ago. No really I appreciate all of you and am SUPER thankful for all your comments and feedback. They keep going and don't make me totally feel like I'm talking to no one.

6. I'm thankful for the person I am today and where I am in my short 25 year old life.

Outfit Post: Going Dark

Sweater: Roxy
Dress: LF Store
Leather Jacket: Michael Kors
Boots: H&M
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Have you noticed a change? A hair color change perhaps? Okay well if you follow me on twitter this is old news...but I went to Arrojo on Sunday and got my hair did with my mom. I went just for a color change up and to get my shaggy bangs trimmed. This time around Inva changed up my color to something a little darker and a little redder. Yes while it seems like the world wants to go blonder I'm going darker and redder. After Ashley first did my hair back in August I just feel in love with the red dark color and this time around I really wanted to focus on that color. Inva did a fantastic job changing it up and Heech did an awesome job chopping up my bangs. She gave me a more blunt of a bang trim that I'm totally digging. I feel really mod in my new hair. I'm giving my hair a few more months before I go in for a full on hair...trim. Meanwhile, my mom did the Goldwell Colorance to coverup some greys thanks to Olivia. My mom is already talking a big game she is saying come June she's doing a pixie cut and going bleach blonde! We'll see about all that....

What do you think of my new hair color?

Party Dresses: Metallics

Stay in trend this Holiday Season by strutting your stuff in a metallic dress. Metallics are a bit on the sexy-side but you dial it down for a casual party or amplify it with the right dresses and accessories.

The Golden Girl

Metallic NYE

Want to look good for a night on the town? Well nothing says sexy like a plunging neck line, but just remember to keep it classy ladies! This ASOS Metallic Wrap Dress ($80) is sexy with a plunging neckline but keeps it modest with the 3 quarter sleeves and a bit of a ruffle in the front. Plus the cooper coloring looks on lots of different skin tones. Body-con dresses are another feel sexy dress. Of course not all of us can pull off a body-con dress but one that can be flattering on curvy girls is the Nasty Gal Shine On Dress ($68). The ruched and twist on this dress can hit you in all the right places showing off your body! Since this dress is so stand out, like any stand out dress, stick with simple sleek accessories. When doing metallics still with black accessories especially when you aren't sure about your pairing since matching metallic with metallic can be tricky. If you are feeling daring try and pair up you metallic dress with a sparkling accessory like the Topshop Amethyst Multi Glitter Boots ($140).

Classy in Metallic

Metallic Party Dress

Want to be the show stopper at your office party without being to overboard? A metallic dress will get you noticed if you pick the right one. Remember to keep your look sophisticated and smart. And nothing says elegant like a body flattering t-shirt dress like Bcbgeneration Metallic Low-Back Dress ($78). The color is sleek and so is the cut of the dress. The low back gives it a hint of sexiness but without baring your whole back. With a dress like this you can pair it up with a belt or leave it as is. Accessories with a long sleeve dress should be kept to a minimum especially since a dress like this is very minimal. A pair of earrings, a stand out ring, a simple envelope clutch, and a nude pair of shoes is all you need. Want to show some neck? Go for a deep V-neck line, don't go to plungy. Dresses like the Calvin Klein Metallic shift dress ($80) and the ASOS Tfnc Metallic Pleated Cross Over Midi Dress ($81) are casual and appropriate work related dresses without being frumpy. With a cooperish dress you can do gold accessories like the Zara Sequinned WalletCarolee LUX Status Links Gold Bracelet ($60) and ($88). If your doing a dress that as some kind of color or shine to it like the ASOS Tfnc Metallic Pleated Cross Over Midi Dress try and follow through with the color that is in it. ASOS has a bit of a silver lining in it so cross it over with some silver accessories like the Michael Antonio Keme - Silver Glitter PU  ($55).

Metallic in Acces-sories
Metallic Accesories

Timid of metallics? It's okay spice up your look with some fun and funky metallic accessories. Why not flirt around with some metallic make-up like the MARK I-Mark Metallics ($6) or dress up your nails in Deborah Lippmann Metallic Nail Polish (set of 3 $48).

Would you guys wear a metallic dress this season?
