Summer time in Brooklyn means food, drinks, and more food. Nothing gets better than spending a summer day eating your way through Smorgasburg and stumbling upon a random local street fairs. Now how more Brooklyn can I get with a cropped top, high waisted cutoffs, and big sunglasses? I have fully embraced the cropped top look. Maybe as I get older I feel more comfortable in my own body...or maybe it's the fact that this is probably the most fit I have ever been (I spend t least 4 nights a week at the gym)...or maybe bit by bit I'm becoming more of a hipster....

Are you embracing the cropped top trend?

Wedspiration: Loverly and Bauble Bar Event

Last week I attended the Loverly event at the Bauble Bar pop-up shop with my cousin and bridesmaid Jessica (check out here blog Pins, Needles, Fashion). I took this opportunity take in some inspiration for my own wedding that is coming up next year. It seems so far away, but I know this year will blow by so why not enjoy the wedding planning and inspiration now while I have the time! Not only was their plenty of eye candy between the Bauble Bar jewelry, the lovely table displays (thanks to Newlyish) and beautiful dresses from Donna Morgan and Jenny Yoo, but we also got enjoy yummy little cupcake treats and Godiva liquor. I even got to try on my first (yes FIRST) wedding dress from Jenny Yoo. Sorry you won't get to see a picture of me in it, at least maybe not until I find THE DRESS then maybe I can display the nos. Anyway, not only was this dress super light with a sweetheart neckline, but it is a funky convertible dress that can be worn 16 ways! This dress has 4 hidden chiffon panels 2 in the front 2 in the back which allow you to switch your look around (learn more about the Hathaway dress here). I love that you get to play with the different style and get a lot of use out of it, and for a dress that you can switch up 16 different ways it has a lower price point then one might expect at $1,495, we are talking bridal gowns here!

I even fell in love with the Donna Morgan bridesmaid dress in spearmint. It is the exact mint color that I have been looking for for my bridesmaid dresses! (I bet you are so surprised that mint will be a color in my wedding.) I literally died when I saw it. I love it strapless (featured above) but some of my girls I know won't feel totally comfortable in a strapless so after doing some online investigation I came across the same color dress but this time in a convertible dress at an affordable price of $178 (learn more about the Blaire and Lindsey dresses). Now I just need to find a place that sells her in New York City....which seems like a more difficult task then one might think...

Hopefully there will be more bridal events to come that I will share with you all. If anyone is interested in seeing some more Wedspiration, hop on over to my wedding pinterest board!

I was told by the guy that works in the Starbucks I frequent by my office that I looked like a passion fruit lemonade. I must admit I am completely okay with that. I was nicknamed Rainbow Bright by a co-worker because of all of my crazy color-blocking outfits and whenever I wear darker looks (which has been a lot more often since I'm in bracing the monochrome look) people are more surprised. I'm so happy that I scored these amazing bright pants from LOFT on super sale for $16! I love LOFT sales.

Inspirational Monday: Orange and Gold

Picture left: Brooklyn Blonde
Pictures Right: Shirt: Gucci | Skirt: 3.1 Phillip Lim | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

When I saw this post from Brooklyn Blonde I couldn't believe I never thought about pairing gold and orange together. I had such a DUH moment. I love how Helena was able to effortlessly take the sequin skirt to a day time look. Being that a. I'm not brave enough to pull out a sequin skirt during the day b. I don't have a gold sequin skirt...I rummaged through my draw to find my gold Urban Outfitters skirt that I had for years. Along with finding my Joe Fresh orange striped shirt that is comparable to Helena's top to pull of the orange and gold look myself.

Shirt: Joe Fresh | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sunglasses: Ray-Bans |
Cuff  Bracelet: H&M

These two colors might not be in everyone's wardrobe but it's worth giving it a whirl. Plus, these two colors on their own are perfect summer colors...together it's just the epitome of summer!

What do you think of the orange and gold combo?

PS. Every time I typed Helena all I could think of was the My Chemical Romance song Helena....

Hairspiration: Summer Hair

picture from pinterest

It's been awhile since I had a "dramatic" hair change and this is the season to do so. I found the above picture a couple of months ago and have been holding onto it until I was ready to for my hair change. I knew this would be the perfect summer color and cut. My hair has been weighing me down, on top of just being everywhere. I was tired of my hair, but didn't want to go to short since in a year it'll be my wedding and I've been looking at a lot of braided up-dos. Anyway, Friday I had an appointment with Arrojo, where Ashley and Lee worked their hair magic.

I truly love my new hair color and cut. I'm totally looking forward to playing to texture with my newly chopped layered hair and color.

Will you be changing your hair for the summer?

Outfit Post: Pastel Watercolors

Vest: c/o Susan Graver | Top: Hanes | Skirt: H&M | Shoes: Tibi | Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff | Necklace: c/oHugssy
Sunglasses: no names

This is as much layering as you'll get from me during the summer months. Piling on jewelry and clothes when it's 80 and up makes me sweat just thinking about it. I love light layering pieces, like this Susan Graver vest. It's airy, smooth, and you can toss it over a white tank top and cut offs for a more pill together look. I loved it paired with the pastel floral skirt since it really gives this look a watercolor feel. Then the Hugssy necklace gives it just the right about of jewels that this look needs. I wore this casually dressed look to my cousin's boyfriend's short film movie premier. It was casual but not to casual, which is how I prefer to dress.

Kensie Holiday Preview 2013

I always love going to Kensie's previews; beautiful jewelry, snacks, wine, and friends. At this particular preview we got to do a little wine and chocolate pairing tasting while viewing the Kensie holiday jewelry. The chocolate was provided by Jacques Torres, my favorite was the dark chocolate with orange, and one of my favorite wines was the The Pinot Project (pinot noir). Like the wine and the chocolate, the jewelry was just as yummy. The collection was full of beautiful dainty jewels to thicker jewel encrusted necklaces. Some of favorite pieces were the chunky jeweled necklaces that came in eye catching colors.

I love that Kensie jewelry are statement makers, but at an affordable price. They are pieces that can be worn from day to night...from casual to dressy. I can see myself rocking the chunky necklaces with a simple tee, jeans, and high heels for my favorite casual yet dressy look.

What do you think of this collection?

Inspirational Monday: Overalls

picture from Bonnie of Flashes of Style
Top Dress: Topshop | Bottom Dress: River Island

It's the 90s child in me that loves the overall trend. I had picked up my first overall dress in about 20 years a few months back during a Theory sample sale (worn way back in January, here). I actually couldn't wait to wear this dress again except without tights...and a long sleeve shirt. I actually had this exact outfit in mind for a long time now, just waited for the weather to get warm enough to wear it without anything over or under it.

Dress: Theory (sample sale) | Shirt: Old Navy | Shoes: Nine West (old) | Bag: Urban Expressions c/o Baghaus.com | Sunglasses: no names

So glad the weather is warm and sunny...finally! Bring on bare legs and bare arms!

What do you think of the overall trend? I'm thinking my next purchase will be a pair of short denim overalls...or that Topshop overall dress...
