I might not have summer Friday's in my office but I sure do dress like it. I found this skirt at Necessary Clothing and there was no doubt in my mind I needed it. Plus, perfert for Paris #justsaying! The husband had a his first summer Friday last Friday so he met me for lunch in SoHo where we devoured a delicious Italian meal and enjoyed the warm sun before I had to head back to the office.

Inspirational Monday: Ripped Shorts

From Left to Right: Pinterest | One Teaspoon | One Teaspoon

I've been wearing cutoff shorts for as long as I can remember. I even remember cutting own old pair of jeans into shorts when I was younger in order to have the perfect pair of cutoffs. Brands like One Teaspoon have made a killing and brought back the destroyed ripped jeans. As much as I love their style of destroyed jeans I'm not all about that price tag, these shorts can cost anywhere from $80 and upward. I'm still all about the DIY destroyed denim.

So take a pair of scissors to those old jeans! I promise the fraying gets better after each wear and wash.

What do you think about destroyed shorts?

The husband and I celebrated our second year of marriage last weekend by having a stay-cation. We had initially planned doing a small weekend getaway in Long Island but since we are going to Europe in August we decided to put that money to our trip. We still made our way to the Long Island Vineyards but on a smaller scale. We hoped on a tour through Hampton Luxury Liners of 3 different wineries (Duck Walk, Osprey's Dominion, and Baiting Hollow). The weather during the day wasn't ideal for outside activities but we still had a great time tasting the wines, enjoying some live music, and people watching. My favorite wines were from Duck Walk! Go for the dessert wines (my favorite was the Blackberry Wine). The best scenery and outdoor space that I wish we could have taken more advantage of was Osprey's Dominion.

This tour (purchase through Groupon or Hampton Luxury Liner) is perfect for those local to the city who a. don't have a car c. don't want to spend a lot of money on a driver and a hotel and c. don't have a car -- you shouldn't drink and dive anyway.

No I'm not talking about Beyonce. As much as I do love her...I am however talking about summer in a glass. As soon as it hits the mid-70s there's nothing that I crave more then lemonade. Or an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade and half iced tea). I'm so happy to have found that my favorite local coffee shop sells lemonade! Made the trip to the park all that much sweeter.

What do you crave during the summer months?

Inspirational Monday: White Sneaks

It's amazing how something so simple like a pair of white sneakers can be put on the MUST HAVE list. After seeing stylish bloggers like Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules and fashionistas on the streets of SoHo rocking their pairs of white sneaks -- I had to have my own. I love the idea of playing with sneaks to tomboy up a look whether it's with a feminine dress, an off the shoulder top or really play-up the athleisure look.

Style Guide: From Work to Weekend Getaway

Travel Bag: Day by Birger Et Mikkelsen via Urban Outfitters | Sunglasses: Feather's Boutique

So it's not officially summer yet but we've rung in the unofficial start of summer...and weekend getaways. If your like me most of your summer vacations are either extended weekends or small weekend getaways that start right after work. Which can sometimes be tricky when going directly from work to train, plane, or automobile. My travel style is always about comfort so I always look for something that would I would be comfortable to wear to work then easily to travel in.

1. Casual Day Pants. I think casual day pants are necessary to have in your closet for the summer. Period. Pants like these from Madewell or these from J.Crew are perfect to wear to work or the weekend. They can be dressed up or worn casually with a t-shirt and sandals, like so.

2. Summer Print Top. If a graphic print top like this palm tree print from Loft is too much for work, try a stripe tee in a summery print like this one from J.Crew. There's nothing like a summer color top to get you in the mood for the weekend.

3. The Weekend Bag. A perfect sized weekend bag is necessary. A small duffle or a large tote bag that is easy to carry but all holds everything you need is a must. My bag is by Day by Birger Et Mikkelsen, which was bought form Urban Outfitters. I love that this duffle bag is light and looks small but holds A LOT of stuff. They no longer sell my duffle bag but have it in a tote bag. You an also shop the whole collection on their website.

4. Work to Weekend Sandal. Wear the sandal or shoe that you don't have to pack but you can wear to work that you can also wear over the weekend. The Topshop sandals I wore (other options here and here) were my "night" sandals. I fit my flip flops right into my bag as these sandals didn't have to take up room in my bag.

Do you travel from work to weekend getaways?
