The Art of Winter Layers

The Art of Winter Layers

Here in the North East, in the winter more is warmer. You can never go wrong with layering more layers, except maybe when you are sitting on a hot subway train but you'll be thankfully when you have layered up trying to walk to your next destination. I'm not a fan of winter, but I am a fan of layers...big bulky layers. The trick to the oversized layers is to keep the bottoms slim. Oversized coats, paired with oversized sweaters and shirts can weigh you down so keep your pants line clean and simple with a straight pants cut. Skinny jeans will give you the slimming effect. For girls who aren't model height we might look shorter in layers so for height add on your favorite pump. Motor vest and fur vest are another great under layering tool. I love these pieces because they are perfect to wear once the coat comes off. It's a nice hidden little chic piece.

How do you layer for the winter?

  1. It's all about layers in the warmer months because then you'll just wear eskimo sweaters. Plus when you go to work, it's super warm so you can take a layer or 2 off.

P.S. These couldn't have been taken during this 10 degree weather otherwise your feet must have frozen off!! hehe

  2. I feel like I wouldn't need layers standing next to you since you're just so HOT (...lame joke alert)

  3. That moto vest looks awesome on you! Brr, it's been sooo freezing this week. I layer by wearing sweaters or blazers over more sweaters- anything to stay warm!

  12. So much to love in this outfit! That huge coat, the neon beanie then underneath that gorgeous motor vest & the stripes! Perfect!
I've mostly just been chucking on as many layers as possible recently, as it's been absolutely freezing here! And I'm loving doubling up on coats/jackets too.
You're kinda making me want a neon beanie too... And I never thought I'd want neon anything! Haha! ;)
