Friend Friday: Food (& Drinks)
I love Summer and I love summer food and drinks. When I think summer I think bbqs, lemonade, and macaroni salad. I'm not the best chef in the world, that's why I have my bf (he's the cook) but I do enjoy making deserts and mixing up cocktails. This Friday we were asked to share the recipe of our favorite seasonal dish.. the one we love to make and love to eat this time of the year. I don't know if I really cook anything each time this year (unlike every Christmas I make my xmas cookies and chocolate covered pretzels). But like I said I do enjoy mixing up some drinks and making deserts so I'll share some of my favorite cocktails and deserts with you that are easy-peesy.

Spiked Lemonade
What You'll Need:
Absolute Citrus Vodka (or whatever Citrus Vodka you prefer)
Simple Syrup (follow these instructions to make your own)
Lemon Juice
Optional: Lemons to garnish
This, of course, all depends on how much you are making but we were able to fill a 1/2 Gallon Jug with the following amounts:
2 Cups of Lemon Juice
2 Cups of Simple Sugar
1 Cup of Absolute Citrus Vodka
Coconut Sorbet and Fruit
If you like Pina Coladas ....and getting caught in the rain...
But seriously if you like anything Coconut there are some amazing coconut sorbets out there and my favorite is the Ciao Bella Gelato Coconut. Anyway, my boyfriend and I had some coconut sorbet in the freezer and some fruit in the fridge and thought lets through it all together for desert! BAM best idea ever!
What You'll Need:
Coconut Sorbet (suggested- Ciao Bella Gelato)
Strawberries
Raspberries
Cut the leaf parts off the strawberries and then cut the strawberries in halves. Scoop out the sorbet into a bowl and garnish with strawberries and raspberries. Sit back, relax, and feel like your in the Caribbeans. Best way to really indulge without feeling guilty!

Rebecca Minkoff Resort 2012
One week ago today I was standing in Rebecca Minkoff's showroom previewing her Resort 2012 collection with a small group of bloggers. We were lucky enough to get a guide through the collection by the beautiful Rebecca Minkoff herself. She took us through her Resort 2012 handbag, shoe, and clothing collections. The common theme that went through each one is brightly colored pieces and the 1970s look. The collection colors were azure, turquoise, sunset and persimmon-- really nothing gets more resort then that. Much like her handbags her clothing line can easily go from day to night. She had this one red dress that was a sexy little number but could be tone down by throwing a blazer over it or paired up with her lace motor jacket. Yes, a lace motor jacket!
Another one of my favorite looks is the white lace dress with a zipper detail on the side. It is ultra feminine but can be toughen up with a leather motor jacket or a military style jacket. This dress is another one of her pieces that can go from day to night.
What is a resort collection with out bright colors?! Rebecca Minkoff filled her collection with an array of delightful and playful turquoises and reds. Including the shoes!!
And the bags. OOOOO the bags. I drooled over most of the collection. She appeals to every age and every taste. Whether you are a rocker chick or uptown chic she has a purse for you. I fell in total love with her canvas bucket bag-- it is 100% resort ready. It is big enough to carry your beach essentials -- beach towel, magazines, sun tan lotion, and chap stick but still chic enough not to look weighed down. Another one of my favorites was a total dowtown rocker chic bag, it had a vibrant yellow leopard print flap and black leather. It was small enough to carry around late at night but still big enough to stuff everything you would need for a night out on the town or a concert. If you are looking for sleek and chic the Saks 5th Ave collection is where you can start. Classic looks in materials like ostrich and alligator skin.
There is something about Rebecca Minkoff and her collections. They are timeless yet chic and now. I'm pretty sure she can easily run me bankrupt between her three collections. I want to thank Rebecca Minkoff and her team for inviting me to this fantastic event. I couldn't have been more excited to view her collection. Her handbags are one of my favorites out there and I hope to add some more of her bags to my own collection.

Thank you Stella McCartney for making the spring trend so fruity. The fruit chic is playful and feminine. It works for all different age groups and any social gatherings -- add some sassyness to work by wearing fruit on your dress instead of carrying it in your lunch bag. But there is no need for you to go bankrupt over this style when you can steal it for less.

Outfit Post: Little White Dress

Who needs a bf when you have a tripod? I don't! Okay well I love that my bf takes pictures of me but I have discovered his tripod and now when he's not around I can take pictures of my outfit. We weren't on our usually schedule today he left later for work and came home later while I ....I was on the usually schedule. So instead I took some photos indoors with the tripod of my little white dress. I got a compliment from my co-worker today that I can pull of the the sailor look well. The only reason I wore the scarf (besides the fact that I love this scarf) is that the top of this dress is to big. I'm not sure what happened to it but it got stretched out so it sort of slips down a little so to prevent a bra showing a blazer and a scarf solves the worlds problems. I managed to not get a thing on my dress I did get freaking milk on my scarf! I would have rather hot milk on my dress but I did eat left over lasagna for lunch and managed to keep it off of me. Small bites work. I'm thinking of giving away this dress once I wash it since it doesn't fit properly and doubt I'd wear it again because of that. We'll see.....

I've never been the girl to wear white and not get something on her but I really love LWD (little white dress) trend that is popping up. It's simple, clean, and chic. I like the idea of tossing over a blazer or cardigan over the LWD to keep it looking formal but without looking like your walking down the aisle. This is why today I'm trying my hand at the LWD and hoping I keep food, pen marks, and anything else off of me. We'll see how it goes....
