Inspirational Monday: Apartment Therapy

Home

I wish I had a spacious apartment. Especially one that had a big bedroom with lots of big windows and a huge walk-in closet. Don't get me wrong I love the apartment we have now: eat-in kitchen, exposed brick walls, and a living room that can fit a real couch. On the other hand the bedroom is tiny and we don't have a lot of storage space. Everything seems to start piling up and becoming full of clutter. If it was up to me I would live in a very minimal apartment. Yesterday I went on a de-clutter rampage. I threw out a lot of stuff that I had been hoarding and TOTALLY cleaned the top of my dressers, thanks to Alexander Wang and L.AM.B for having nice boxes to put everything in. What I really want/need is a wardrobe, I have no space to put all my clothes. I need to start Ikea shopping again. Also we want to do a little revamping of this apartment so we'll see. For now the above collection is just an inspiration for my ideal bedroom/closet.

What does your dream apartment/house look like?

Sweater: Ann Taylor
Shirt: H&M
Vest: Ebay
Shorts: DIY Cut offs
Tights: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Jeffery Campbell Maddows
Sunglasses: Raybans

I can't believe how beautiful it was today....high 50s, sunny, and warm! I wish NYC winters would just stay like this. It was a pleasant welcome and a nice surprise since this past week it was in the teens! I just can't believe I was able to double up on a long sleeve shirt and a sweater and be warm. The boyfriend and I just spent the day in walking around in our neighborhood. I popped into a couple of the bouiques by us including Bird and Diane T but didn't end up buying anything. Did make our way up to Barney COOP where I decided that next Monday I will need to make a trip to Alexander Wang's store since I know that's where I want to spend my Christmas money.  Then we came home took down our Christmas tree (finally) and CLEANED! I mean CLEANED! I still have clothes laying around that needs to be put away but after a couple of hours of cleaning I just couldn't....

ANYWAY this Ann Taylor sweater is a newly added piece to my wardrobe. After working late nights for the past few weeks and being stressed I treated myself to a little something. I wish you can see the added gold metallics in the sweater which is what really caught my eye...that and being on sale rack with a extra 40% off (you can find it online here)! What can I saw I'm a sucker for sales! This sweater is a perfect layering piece: perfect with patterned long sleeve tops and collared shirts.

Do you guys do some retail therapy after being stressed? How do you cope?

Shirt: Apart
Skirt: H&M
Socks: the Gap
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Belt: H&M
Rings: Charlotte Russe

I can't believe my JC Litas are one years old! It hit me as I was lacing them up that I had got them for Christmas last year! Then it hit me that my socks are a year old and so is the top and the skirt well much older then that since it was one of the first pieces that I had bought when I started working. With that being said...I'm a sucker for staples. Anything that can grow with me and that I can keep for a long period time-- that's what I want in my closet. Don't get me wrong I fall for pieces that I never ever wear but had to have. I am female after all.

Do you have any key pieces that have been in your closet for a long time?

NYE 2012

Dress: Ark & Co. from Lulu's
Shoes: L.A.M.B
Bracelets: Charlotte Russe and Filenes Basement
Ring: Afaze
Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff
Earrings: Charlotte Russe

This dress by far is the sexiest dress that I own. I never thought I'd wear something like it, but I figured I'm 25 years old and this is the year to do it....not really sure when I'll be wearing it again since I don't go out to clubs very often...BUT I got so many compliments Saturday night while out with my friends celebrating New Year's Eve that I feel like I have to wear it again! Unlike my shoes where I thought I was going to DIE or twist my ankle while trying to walk in them (both sober and after a few drinks)...I don't do well in stilettos but let's be honest I'll probably be toting them around during NYFW. Anyway I felt like such a grown up since this year was the first year we all paid extra money for a table. We are thinking that next year we might have to do bottle service. We're working our way up!

What did you guys do for NYE?
