From Week to Weekend: The Tribal Skirt

Shake up your prints this summer by mixing in tribal prints. Tribal prints are everywhere this season from high end designers like Mara Hoffman to lower end stores like Zara. You can work in tribal prints within your work week wear by picking out neutral tones while adding pops of colors for your weekend looks.

If you work in a carefree environment, work in a tribal print skirt into your week wear. For a easy pairing pick a tribal print skirt that is more neutral then bold and vibrant. Picking a neutral tribal print skirt not only makes it easy to dress up, but it also isn't overwhelming in a work space. A simple blazer can really dress up a look, so pair your look up with a simple neutral blazer. Use pops of colors to keep your look from being to washed out. Play with colorful trenches or even colorful jewelry like the bangles. This look is also great to take from day to night. Slip off the blazer and slip on some high heels and red lipstick.

Nothing says the weekend like a throw on and go outfit. A band tee can make any outfit weekend ready. Pair up your favorite band tee with a tribal print skirt and boots for the ultimate brunch look. Keep with pops of colors in your accessoires for boldness.

How would you wear a tribal print skirt?

Inspirational Monday: Oversized Head Scarves

Picture on the left: Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 (Vogue)
Headwraps from Top to Bottom: 1. Marc by Marc Jacobs $78 | 2. Urban Outfitters $60 | 3. Genie by Eugenia Kim $40

I'm definitely feeling the oversized headwraps that was seen during the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 show. I love that this trend is an extension of the turban trend from the winter, but has a lighter take on it with chiffon, jersey or silk fabrics. During the Marc by Marc Jacobs show Marc Jacobs overlaid scarves with his head wrap turban. I love that it played with colors and even made it look wider. This trend is great for the ladies that dye their hair, it'll definitely keep your hair protected from the sun, and for those of use with bangs. If we so choose we can pull our bangs back and hide them under the turban allow us to get an even tan on our face. The best thing about this trend is that you don't necessarily have to run out and buy headwraps. You can take your favorite scarf and tie it around. Keiko Lynn did a little tutorial way back  that you can check out here.

Sunday was a beautiful day in the city and the fiance and I took total advantage of it by heading down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park. I wore my favorite hippy pants and to match I pulled out my scarf to tie around my hair.

This would be my accidental urban cowgirl look. It's the subtle hints to this look that gives me this feeling: the belt, turquoise ring, snake skin print bag, and low cowboy boots. I'm just so happy that the weather is allowing me to break out my lighter shades of jeans. I haven't worn these floral print jean since last Spring...which I almost forgotten about since they got buried underneath everything else.

What are you excited to break out of your closet this spring?

Inspirational Monday: Totally Mod

This Spring I'm feeling the retro flair of fit and flair dresses and mod shifts. I really fell in love with the throw back looks from Alice + Olivia's Spring 2013 collection. I love the simplicity and femininity of this nod to the late 50s, early 60s fashion. It's a look that is flattering on most body shapes as well as looks that you can wear during the week and on the weekends. It's also a trend that you can make your own.

I paired my favorite fit and flare dress with a jean jacket and wedges for a Friday day to date night look. Pairing it with a jean jacket and a statement necklace brings it to modern times.

I was feeling quit festival this week...especially after seeing nothing but Coachella pictures all over Instragam and Twitter this past weekend. Thanks to my new trusty Marc by Marc Jacobs backpack and my favorite jean jacket and flowy dress I can be festival ready whenever I want.
