Borrowed from the Boys: Boyfriend Tee and Jeans

As much as I love dressing up I also love being comfortable. Especially after coming back from vacation it's hard for me to get back into the swing of things including dressing. I had been too tired to pull it together last week so my looks were totally more on the comfortable side, more then usual.

I paired my boyfriend jeans with my favorite slouchy T by Alexander Wang top that fits more like I stole it from my fiance. When pairing up slouchy with slouchy one of these items has to be more fitted, the LOFT boyfriend jeans have a more fitted look around the thighs and loosen up at the ends. Plus, pairing the look up with heels dresses the look and gives it a feminine touch.

Would you wear a boyfriend style tee with boyfriend jeans?

Steal the Look for Less: The Boyfriend Jean

The Look for Less: The Boyfriend Jeans

The hunt for the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans was a tough and long one for me. I tried on relentless amounts of boyfriend jeans from Urban Outfitters to the Gap. Either they made me look wider and boxy or they had a gap in the back (which is always a problem for me with jeans). Finally there it was perfect pair of boyfriend jeans in no other then LOFT. They were fitted in the thighs and enough slouch at the bottom...more importantly no huge gap in the back. I enlisted Kimberlee of I Have A Degree In This and Nnenna of Starcrossed Smiles for helpful feedback via twitter, as we were having a convo about boyfriend jeans earlier that week. With their stamp of approval, I made the purchase.

Why has the boyfriend jean become such a hit? They add a sense of casualness. They can be worn with a basic tee and paired with sneakers for a weekend look. Or can be dressed up a bit with a pair of heels and a blazer. I love playing up the tomboy look by adding a boyfriend style blazer with a fitted top and heeled boots. This is the perfect cross between feminine and tomboy.

Here are some thoughts to keep in mind when shopping for the boyfriend jeans. If you have wider or athletic thighs go for a jean that is a bit tighter on top but have a loose bottom. Even though the Gap jeans gave me a problem in the back they do fit great for a gal who has athletic legs. Remember boyfriend jeans are to look relaxed, I know they take some getting use to looking at since we are all use our favorite skninny jeans. Always remember to turn around and look at your back side. Look for how they fit across your back as well as the way your butt looks. Some of these relaxed fit jeans can make your butt look saggy and no one wants a saggy butt. Don't give up hope if you can't find "the one!"

Have you or will you give the boyfriend jean a try?
