Suns out. Shoulders out. I'm all over the off the shoulder trend again. Last Summer I showed you how to wear an off the shoulder shirt to work (read here) but this season I'm about the bare shoulder dresses. These dresses are the perfect summer day dress pair with sneaks for a day out, switch to a pair of heels for a dinner date. I took this Tobi.com out for a spin finally on Sunday as temperatures reached 70 degrees. This dress is super light weight and was just right for enjoying a walking around the hood eating tacos and ice cream.

The Trend for Less: The Lace Up Sandal

Spring Trend: The Lace Up Sandal

This Spring/Summer Shoe Trend is all about the lace up sandals. These shoes are super cute to dress up with a pair of jeans or a summer dress. These also make a great day to night shoes, switch a light pink lipstick for a day look for a red lip at night. Many celebrities like Olivia Palermo, Alexa Chung, and Kim Kardashian have been rocking this summer trend as well. It's one of the IT GIRL shoes for the 2014.

I had been looking for shoes to wear to our rehearsal dinner, that's when I came across these Anne Michelle lace up sandal on Ideeli. These were perfect to pair with my boho maxi dress for the rehearsal as well as mix and match looks during the summer. I love that they work seamlessly through my closet, can easily be paired up with a boyfriend jeans (as shown) or a summer dress. Perfect to work within the your work day look and date nights. I love that this trend comes a variety of colors and styles so that every woman has something that they can choose.

Spring Trend For Less: The Embellished Sandals

This winter season was all about the embellished tops, this spring/summer it's about the embellished sandals. Designers like J.Crew and Kate Spade who aren't afraid of the overly feminine embellished clothing are now bringing their embellishments to their shoes. I for one fell in love with the Kate Spade Avila Sandal. They are easy to slip on sandals that can be dressed up with a skirt and dress for a day look or paired with a casual summer look with a pair of shorts. As soon as I saw H&M's take on this trend I knew had to get my hands on a pair of them.

I wore the H&M sandals for a casual Saturday while running some errands around the city. Paired with a slouchy summer sweater and easy breezy pair of shorts for a simple day look. These sandals def. added a bit of sparkle that a casual look needs.

What do you think about this trend? Would you splurge on the designers or steal the look for less?

Spring Trend: The Feminine Sporty Look

 photo sneakers6_zps724f5284.png

Throughout High School and College I lived in my sneakers, particularly Vans. As soon as I graduated from College I traded out my sneaks for stylish flats. This season I'm falling back in love with sneakers, from slip ons to wedges. I'm really in particular digging the sneakers with feminine dresses and skirts. Sneakers give the whole look a laid back vibe that is totally my style.

I gave this look a try on a casual Saturday. Wore my pleated H&M skirt with my new pair of Puma wedge sneakers to run errands and have lunch with the parents.

The trick to this look is to keep it super casual. When doing a feminine dress pair it with casual pieces like a leather jacket. When doing a feminine skirt keep your top simple, a slouchy top will add a bit of ease to a look.

Would you give this trend a try?

Spring 2013 Trend: Asian Inspired

One of the pluses of holding out on trying new trends or jumping on a trend wagon right away is getting these trends on sale. This the perfect time of the season to get the summer sales from sample sales to the end-of-season in-store/online sales. I've been holding out on the Asian inspired spring trend myself, even though I have my fair share of kimono style sleeved shirts. This inspiration was all designer's runways to stores like Zara (which is currently having their summer sale, my top picks are here and here). This trend can be easy to pull of with just a couple of basics or fun accessories.

Fashion is all about trying to mix things up. A great pair of floral printed silk pants like the French Connection ones can be both dressed down or up. One may think these pants wouldn't be able to work into a work wear look...wrong. A basic t-shirt, a blazer, and a pair of pumps can take these from bed to work. Throw on some red lipstick for a dramatic after work cocktail look. To have a little more ease to this look and to throw a little more inspiration into it, a great pair of chunky wooden heels is all you need. Replace a basic tee with a sold print high low top, go for neutral colors.

I actually played around with this look myself for a casual Friday outfit. It was probably one of the most comfortable outfits I have ever worn to work. PJ style pants plus chunky heels, what more could I want.

Spring Trend: Monochrome

The weather in New York has been crazy. We've gone from spring like weather back to winter in what seems like matter of hours...which I guess theoretically it had been. All I know is that I want to truly transition my wardrobe from winter to spring. I'm over wearing my heavy coats and layering of scarves and hats. The only way I feel better about this whole situation is by starting to mix in some spring trends when I can. The monochrome look is one of the easiest looks to mix in. It's a timeless look that always looks chic. Plus it's a look that you can dig around in your closet to find the pieces you need to pull this trend off.

Since the weather has been wacky I decided to layer up two of my favorite jackets, my Michael Kors leather jacket under my light weight houndstooth Roxy jacket. Adding a printed black and white piece to your look can give it a more vibrant feeling instead of just your basic black and white look.
