VLOV by Qingqing Wu Menswear Spring 2012
I can't believe I attended my first menswear show a week ago today. When it comes to menswear I'm either very traditional (tailored lines, fitted but masculine) or I have a rugged side (loose fitted jeans, loose fitted button downs, a bit disheveled). VLOV Spring 2012 collection had some traditional looks but with Qinging Wu's own take on it-- a mix of more fitted looks then what I'm used to on men. Wu was inspired by the letter V this season which you can easily find in his asymmetrical cuts and asymmetrical zippers. He also divided his collection into two themes "gray representing introspective elegance along with blue and white representing hope." I overall liked his more traditional looks then his fitted looks-- since some were to feminine looking for my eye. Also some the fabrics he used in the non-traditional menswear looks were a bit to bright or to shiny to see the "every day man" in.

It feels like we literally got smacked in the face by fall weather. It just happened over night, no slow progression...just one day sunny warm high 70s the next jacket/sweater weather. I love fall for pumpkin spice everything, hot apple cider, sweaters, and of course my birthday. I already am breaking out the leather jacket and going to have to get ready to trade out all my summer clothes for winter clothes. This outfit was from Friday. My Smitten sweater was the easiest sweater to get my hands on since it was sitting on hanger in the back of my closest. This is also one of my favorite sweaters that I couldn't wait to wear again. It's a throw back to the 80's yet still now and can be worn so many different ways. Fall here I come and I'm already jumping in with my pumpkin spice lattes and I just picked up some Apple Cinnamon Spice Tea at the grocery store.
Are you guys ready for fall?

Lela Rose Spring 2012

Neon Graveyard usually not the type of theme you hear at a Spring fashion show. Sounds a bit depressing...maybe even a bit lacking in the color department? Well Lela Rose is not neither depressed or lacking in color. Her inspiration came from Coney Island and the Neon Museum in Las Vegas...old neon signs that have lost their luster. She used a lot of grays with pops of yellows and orange as if they were broken neon signs missing some lettering. Her inspiration was unique just like her clothing and patterns that she used. Lots of stand out pieces, beautiful dresses, and playful functional clothing. All I know is that I need to get my hands on her brown coat with the orange lining!

Parkchoonmoo Spring 2012 Collection
Parkchoonmoo who? Chances are you never even heard of this line or the designer Demi Park well things are about to change my friend. I honestly didn't know who or what Parkchoonmoo was until after I found her on a list for fashion week, something about the name jumped out at me and made me want to Google it. Google I did and from the moment I landed on her homepage I knew I was in for it. I looked over her Spring 2011 Collection and Fall 2011 collection and from those two shows alone I KNEW I wanted to be at her Spring 2012 collection.
Park didn't show under the tents but instead at the Eyebeam Art + Technology Center down in Chelsea. This space was PERFECT for her artsy take on her homeland Korea. Beautiful deconstructed clothing with overlays of fabrics. Pops of reds and blues stuck out between the blacks and whites. Models walked down the runway to sick beats that couldn't help but make you feel like you were in an underground grunge club. The whole look and vibe of the Parkchoonmoo show was probably my favorite out of all the shows that I had attended. And some how I got to enjoy it all in the front row.

Farah Angsana Spring 2012 Collection
As much as I love fashion shows I also really enjoy fashion presentations. Presentations allow you to get up close and personal with the different pieces. They allow you to truly taking in and appreciate all the details that you might miss out on the runway, especially if you are 4 rows back peaking over people's heads.
There was no better way to view Farah Angsana Spring 2012 Collection then through a presentation. Her gowns are one of a kind-- the details in the fabric and the beading make the dresses. I can not begin to tell you how amazing all her dresses are and how much work must have went into each and everyone of them. Beading, sequins, feathers, ruffles.......so much detail! Color was also not lacking in this collection, bright bold colors, along with unique take on wedding dresses, and pastels. Her collection is every girls dream-- I just want to play dress up in each one of her gowns!
