I love a little white denim skirt to work for the summer. It's easy to dress up for work and then take out to after work cocktails. When doing a basic look keep the jewelry and accessories simple to out over do the look. I like doing simple jewelry in the summer, as it doesn't weigh me down. I adore a fun patterned pump to any simple look. It gives the look more character and depth. I have a feeling this denim skirt will be in my rotation all summer long.

The husband and I took our first beach trip of the season on Saturday. I hadn't been to Rockaway Beach in years, but in the past few years I've heard some pretty great things about it. I must say, it's totally different then the time my close friends from High School and I were hanging out in the concession stand on the broadwalk and got caught in it being held up. That was a moment in life I'll never forget. But now from Beach 90 and north it's all hipsters and surfers. My favorites. It was pretty fantastic sitting out on the beach watching surfers in New York. After sitting on the sand for a bit we decided to check out the Rockaway Surf Beach Club. Obsessed doesn't begin to explain how I feel about this place. Sitting out in the back patio enjoying a pina coloda and taking in the surfer vibe of the place totally transported me back to Hawaii. Man do I miss Hawaii. And man do I want to spend all of my summer weekends at the Rockaway Surf Beach Club.
How was your weekend?

Style Guide: How to Wear Shorts to Work
The secret to wearing shorts to work is all in the length of inseam. When picking out a pair of shorts for work you don't want to go any shorter then a 6 inch inseam (for you taller ladies with legs for days you might want to look for longer length, 6 1/2 to 8 inches, I find that 6 inches works for my height 5'6"). Look towards brands that cater towards woman work wear like Loft, Ann Taylor, J.Crew and even brands like Zara that have lengthier shorts. Pair them up with a casual work wear top or printed tee, and always a pair of flats to low heel.

Always keep in mind your office's dress code. If you don't know the dress code get in-touch with your HR Department or assume that nothing should be shorter then finger length above the knee. For longer length cuts, try Bermuda shorts (here, here, and here).

I use to spend a lot of time down at the South Street Sea Port as a teenager, so when I go down there now there's always something new. Last week I was invited to checkout the grand opening of Ambrose Hall Beer and Lobster. South Street Sea Port area has changed so much there are less chain stores (A&E and Guess are the few that still exist) and more mom and pop shops. This beer hall is amongst those little shops. I can't wait for the construction to be done on the actual pier, I have a feeling I'll be spending more time down there once everything re-opens...and eating delicious pretzels and lobster rolls at Ambrose Hall.
