Now is the perfect time to buy a winter coat. Since stores are beginning to switch out there winter stock for resort and spring you'll start to see slashed prices on winter goods, including coats and jackets. Military style coats in particular are one of my favorite style coats. They are classic coats that are always in style. A great classic chic coat is worth the investment, it's something that you want to last throughout the season and something that you can breakout time and time again. Investing in a piece doesn't mean you have to drop a lot of money but it does mean a willingness to spend a little more on a piece.

I fell in love with Nonoo's military style jackets in her Fall 2013 collection, they were so sleek and perfect. Plus, I'm a sucker for longer coats. I've had my favorite coat from Tahari for the past 2 years now, so I knew it was time for a new coat. I knew I wanted a military style, but without the large price tag. Being that I started shopping before December I decided to check out stores like Century 21, Loehmanns, TJMaxx and Fox's. These stores are also great price tag slashers, it's even better when you get a deal on a deal! I ended up finding the perfect military style coat at DKNY at Fox's. I love that I can layer underneath it and pair my favorite scarves and hats with it. I now need to find a "fur" collar to go with it.

When shopping for a coat always remember to check the fit of it. As well the room underneath the coat so that you can layer up for the winter. You don't want a coat overly tight especially if you love to wear layers or chunky pieces during the winter. You'll need enough room to wear your favorite sweater but you also don't want to buy something that you'll be swimming in. One way to check is if it has a belt that clips it shouldn't fall loose. It should fit perfectly around you. If you find a coat that you can tie when you cinch at the waist it shouldn't gather. Grab a couple of sizes and see which fits your body correctly.

What is your favorite style winter coat?

  4. That coat is just gorgeous, love the colour blocking & the little leather shoulder detail. I always buy coats & winter jackets around this time of year too, and there are so many good offers on at the moment, though unfortunately I'm on a jacket ban cos I have way too many! Still swooning over those boots too!
