If you follow me on Instagram you'd notice that I laid low this NYFW. After covering it for 9 seasons, I needed bit of a break. So I welcomed a visit from my in-laws this weekend. Plus, with work and school my plate is pretty full. But if I was totally honest with you, I haven't really been all that excited about Fashion Week for a couple of seasons now. Don't get me wrong I love attending shows and I still get a thrill of watching beautiful clothes hit the runway. What I've noticed season after season is that a lot of people attend shows to be noticed. Getting dressed up isn't just about looking nice and fashionable for a show but it's all about getting snapped by Tommy Ton or Bill Cunningham or another street style photographer. Shows aren't about the designer or the clothes anymore, it's about getting seen, who's sitting front row and who isn't. It's about the who's who. This really isn't my style. Sure I've had my share of street style snaps but I don't wear anything that I wouldn't wear on any other occasion. Sure I have special fashion week looks, who doesn't want to look more fashionable? But I don't put much emphasizes on getting stopped or hanging outside in hopes of getting caught. I just feel like NYFW has lost touch with what it's suppose to be about. It also doesn't help that I feel like there is a problem with almost every show that I attend...from their being a "glitch in the system" to the PR company not sending confirmations to over booking shows. This season I was turned away from Alice + Olivia's show because a second PR company never confirmed anyone they sent out invites too. Fashion Week from the outside looks so glamorous and I'm sure it is for those bigger bloggers or celebrities but everyone one else it's just a hassle. Maybe February I'll feel different. With that being said I did make it out to a couple of shows and events this season that I could get to. I wore this look to Custo Barcelona on Friday before spending the whole weekend running around the city with my in-laws. I love this sweater from H&M so much that I wore it again Saturday night after the beach with a pair of cutoffs.

  3. I hear ya sisters. Last season I completely skipped NYFW because I was working full-time and going to school full-time. OVERLOAD. But it's also because of the things you mentioned... it's lost it's touch and people just want to be noticed.

But on a happier note, love the shoes :)
