Mix and Match: Stripes and Gingham

Last week Late Afternoon made a post called "A Case of the Reds" where she mixed and matched her red gingham print skirt and red stripped t-shirt. I never thought of pairing gingham with stripes since I always thought the two would clash, but after seeing the pairing it made me think twice. It also inspired me to take my own little twist on the look.
I felt the mix of prints but wasn't sure about all of it in the same color. I wanted to break up my look so I took my Forever21 gingham skirt and paired it with a black and white stripped shirt. Since this is a powerful look like Liz I kept my accessories neutrals to keep it from clashing with the overall outfit.

Couture Yourself
Last week I was invited to Juicy Couture's Couture Yourself Event. Juicy Couture just launch their new line of charms. No this isn't your momma's Pandora charms but chic charms that can go on just about ANYTHING. Juicy is known for their feminine fun side and of course their track suits but Juicy has even charms and bracelets for the bad-ass in all of us. Sticking with the nature of Juicy they have chunky bracelets and jewel encrusted charms but for those of us with a bit on an edge in our style they have a leather wrap bracelet that you can charm or just leave plain. They also have funky charms like the mini blue skull charm (which is on my wishlist!) and mini wish bone charm.
The best part about these charms is that the price point is actually affordable (unlike the Pandora charms). The price of the charms range from $28 and $38 while the bracelets and necklaces are $42.
The launch of this collection is just in time for Valentines Day. Why not tell someone you love with a little charm?!Hopefully the bf will get the hint if I keep showing him the blue skull charm!

A couple of weeks ago I saw a post on Zebra Trash's blog about Kerin Rose sunglasses. There were two sunglasses in particular that stood out to me: the round sunglasses encrusted with pastel flowers and a pair that just were entrusted on the top.
Kerin Rose sunglasses go for about $200 to about $800 dollars. Lets me honest there is no way I would spend that much money on a pair of bedazzled sunglasses (even if the "stars" wear them) when I know armed with the right tools I can just bedazzle them myself.
What you need:
- Glue gun
- Big framed sunglasses (mine are from Urban Outfitters: $14)
- Rose Flower Cabochons resin beads (got 40 mix pieces for $12 from Sun And Moon Crafts on etsy. They also have a set of 20 for $6...I got more then needed since I can use them on another craft project...they have all types of flowers so don't feel like you have to get roses)
- Wax paper....or something to put down on your table so glue doesn't get everywhere.
1. Before you get gluing try and plan out your color placement. It might change as you go along but it's helpful to see what the colors look like all lined up. I like symmetrical looks so I wanted the colors on one to look the same on the other
2. Once you got your color placement get to gluing! Glue the back of your flower and then place on the rim of your sunglasses.
3. I like symmetrical looks so I wanted the colors on one side to look the same on the other side. Once I hit the center I repeated the colors on the opposite side.
4. BAM! You have flower power sunglasses!!

I decided to have a little fun today with my outfit and play with color. I must say I got a lot of compliments today either on my jeans, my jacket, or the color combo. I felt VERY bright in the sea of black on the train but what can I say I just love me some color! ...And I don't ever want to take this jacket off...
