Two words to describe Falguni and Shane Peacock's Fall 2012 collection: Couture Rockstar. Holy hell I was amazed by this collection. I don't know what I was expecting from this married duo since I really didn't know much about them...but this was not definitely not it. This runway show by far had the best music and was the most fun. Skrillex "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" sent the models down the runway and had me rocking out in my seat. It totally matched the vibe of the clothing- edgy, rock 'n roll, sexy, couture...The collection was filled of sheers, embellishments, and feathers with drastic eyebrows and deep eyeliner. Their design plays with layers of fabric and peaks of sheerness. There is so much detail that goes into each piece and it all looks amazing going down the runway but I really got to appreciate it even more after check out the pictures. My favorite looks were the very last look with the cat suit that had jewel embellishments and a feather sheer tail (I caught this final look on my phone and is now the background) and the deep v-neck jumper. I'm not sure where I would be going in these but I think I could totally rock them out.

After doing my research this whole collection makes sense to Falguni and Shane Peacock design aesthetics, they have designed pieces for Britney Spears (seen in Hold It Against Me and Till the World Ends video), Ashanti, Keri Hilson, and other rather sexy songstresses. So this rocker edge is not surprising to their whole design aspect at all...just to me...the newbie. And I'm loving them for it!

There are two exciting things that I want to tell you guys about/introduce you to.
First...this top is one of my new spring pieces that I just couldn't wait any longer. I had bought this on a recent shopping trip with my cousin at this store called Necessary Clothing. I have walked by the SOHO store front on Broadway about a half a dozen time but never thought about actually walking in. I wasn't sure if it was a cheap store with crap in it or a cheap store with awesome finds but I never took a chance on it. Luckily for me my cousin is a fashionista with a budget too so thanks to her I'm now obsessed with this store. It is full of great clothing that is on point with low prices. The store was filled of my favorite trends: neons and pastels! It was hard for me to not go home with an armful of clothing but instead I went home with a few key pieces this button down included. I can't wait to wear it without a sweater. O don't worry if you don't live in NYC they have an online shop: NecessaryClothing.com.
Secondly...You all know how much I love Arrojo Studio. Well I got the chance to test out their new Dry Shampoo! Which is super exciting since I've been wanting to try out some dry shampoo for awhile now. Let's be honest sometimes we miss a day...or two...of showers which leaves our hair feeling gross and oily. Well thanks Arrojo's Dry Shampoo it absorbs the excess oils and leaves your hair feeling volumized and dry. It's so simple to use to: spray, brush out, and style. Since I don't really like wearing my hair down to much with a collar shirt after I used the Dry Shampoo then I just styled it into a low pony tail and was done. Going a day or so with out washing my hair always leaves me a little self-conscious especially with my bangs since I feel like they look like a total greasy mess but with the Dry Shampoo it left me feeling cleaner. It's definitely a life saver. Plus it's so inexpensive for a must have item-- it's only $22 for a tall 8.0 oz spray can. You can buy it on Arrojo Studio's website.

DIY: Metallic Heel Booties
I've been a fan of the metallic heel for awhile now... especially ever seeing the ones at Topshop. But being me (and now that I'm on a budget) there was no way I wanted to drop $150 or more on them. I had an old hair of H&M booties that are in relatively good shape for being 3 years old but they were def. screaming for a make-over. That's when it hit me to DIY my own metallic heel.
What you'll need:
- Old pair of high heels shoes or booties
- Metallic fabric paint
- Paintbrush
1. Start with one coat of paint and even strokes around the heel.
2. Try to paint the back of the heel as well.
3. Wait for the paint to dry before applying the 2nd coat. A 3rd coat might be needed.
Final results:
I've been thinking about this DIY project for sometime but I had some serious commitment issues-- much like when I'm taking any of my old clothing and giving them a make over. I'm glad that I just committed to this project.

Whitney Eve by designer Whitney Port was another show that I was super excited to have gotten an invite too. I have been a long time fan of Port-- ever since she was on The Hills I wanted to be bffs with her. And then I was probably one of the very few that watched The City. I adore her and her style and was SUPER excited to see that she was showing at Mercedes-Benz Fall 2012 Fashion Week. But the real stunner to me was that I was invited to cover her show. It was another freak out in front of my computer but this time my bf knew what I was talking about since I use to make him watch The Hills and The City with me.
I wasn't surprised that Port had her models walking down the runway to Beyonce "Who Runs the World (Girls)" and M.I.A "Bad Girls." Her aesthetic was what I had expected to see from her-- very girly feminine looks. I loved her use of unique prints, light and flirty materials, and a mix of materials. Her inspiration was based off of a kaleidoscope that she found in her grandmother's closet hence the unique patterns. Some of the looks were a total hit to me like the first look of the spotted pattern peplum top and matching pants along with the third look of the cut out flirty dress with the cardigan. Unfortunately some of the looks totally missed the mark to me. The ruffles on the shoulders on some the shirt appeared to big and made the models look bulky. Also the some of the styling on the looks were over styled. The the mix of to many patterns threw my eye off, I couldn't concentrate on the article of clothing. I had really wished she took the leggings off of some of the dresses like the velvet black splattered dress. I found that dress so appealing but seeing it with the leggings made me cringe a bit. Not saying that the leggings weren't pretty but just not mixed with the heavier dress that can stand out on it's own. Also I don't know if I would have paired up a peplum top with velvet wide leg pants, I feel like tops that are peplum should stick with a slim shiloutte. Honestly, I think if you were to divide out the collection and looked at pieces singularly the collection works. There are lots of pieces that I would wear but definitely style differently to my taste. It is a collection that I think tons of woman can pick through and style the way they see fit.

Okay so there were some bumps in Whitney Eve's collection but this was Port's big first showing. I can see her growing and really coming into her own.

How to Wear Palazzo Pants
I'm a sucker for comfort and for transitional pieces. Hence why I love palazzo pants. They are so comfortable, the wide leg gives your legs some breathing room and the fact that most of these pants are made in softer and lighter materials help. Palazzo pants are also a lot of fun and bring in a cool element into a look. I love palazzo pants that look more like maxi skirts-- a little trick on the eye. These pants are perfect to transit into Spring with some simple and key pieces that you probably have hanging in your closet.
Since palazzo pants have a wide leg (some wider then most) you want to think about keeping your top fitted. The fitter the top the less bulky and more proportionate you'll look. To make a easy transfer from cold winter days to more cooler warmer days pair your pants up with a light fitted knit sweater, like the Zara jersey with back buttons. These type of tops help keep you warm on those cool Spring days (or those warm winter days that we are having here in NYC). Keeping proportionate also means keeping the length of your legs.Wide legs pants sometimes tends to shorten legs, so pair the whole look up with some high heels for height. The best is when the the heels just peek just enough from under the pants, it helps make it look like you have long legs. To even get a better effect of long legs pick a high waist pants-- this will shorten the torso but with a fitted top it will keep you looking lean. To top off the look pair it all up with a daytime satchel bag.
This look is appropriate for work and for a brunch date. But since I spend most of my days I wore the look to the office on one of our warm winter days.
