Home Therapy: Flowers and Plants

The boyfriend and I decided to brighten up our apartment and make some use of our fire escape by buying some flowers and plants this weekend. Here are a couple of shots of our plants and our apartment.

The flowers haven't fully bloomed yet and I can't wait for them to do so. Our orange lilies are going to be so beautiful! Have you guys done any planting this season?

Tank Top: Barney's COOP
Under shirt: Free People
Skirt: Sparkle and Fade by Urban Outfitters
Sweater: H&M
Belt: H&M
Boots: No Name
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Necklace: Satya Jewelry courtesy of Satya Jewelry

Sorry about the coloring my camera now likes to do this fun thing where it makes things way brighter on light clothing colors. The top is a mint green color and the sweater is white. We really need to start using my boyfriend's color more often. That's for sure.

If today would have been nicer I would have worn my Jeffrey Campbell black strappy sandals but I wasn't risking messing up my suede in the rain. I'm so tired of trying to guess what the weather is going to be like. GO AWAY RAIN! It's the end of May and it still feels like April. I have shoes to wear Mother Nature! Instead today I went with my kitten heel (pirate) booties. They gave the look an edgier feel. Anyway I just bought this top and skirt last week. The top is from Filenes Basement. They are really stepping up their designer names which I'm totally digging! And the skirt I bought for $10 from Urban Outfitters. I mostly shop in their clearance section since everything is usually super cheap and there stuff goes on sale rather quickly. I'm always looking for the best deal and both these items were a total steal! 100% silk Barney's COOP top that was originally $75 for $14.99...really nothing beats that! And I had bought the Free People lace tank at a sample sale. I am bargain queen!!

Have you guys found any good sales lately?

Inspirational Monday: Flower Power

Saturday the boy and I spent the day in Lowe's picking out flowers to grow on our fire escape, we are so Brooklyn. This got me thinking about how flowers really inspire fashion. Not only do they inspire colors but shapes. Take the tulip skirt for example, I mean it's called a tulip skirt for a reason because it looks like a tulip petal. Flowers are beautiful and delicate like fine material. They are bright and colorful so there is no surprise why flowers are such an inspiration. As spring kicks into high gear pops of color will spring not only on the ground and the trees but on woman (and men).

I don't have one favorite flower but I do love cherry blossoms, tulips, orchids, and lilies. Do you have any favorite flowers?

Mallory Musante Shoes Press Preview + Trunk Show

Wednesday night I was invited to the Mallory Musante Shoes Press Preview. If you don't know who Mallory Musante is, you should! So here's the scoop on Ms. Musante, she started her own shoe line back in 2009 "after she was frustrated with not being able to find unique shoes that expressed her personality" (Mallory Musante Shoes fb page). Her line consist of beautifully hand painted pumps. She has two collections one bridal collection and one everyday collection. They consist of eye trickery painting like lace patterned painting that makes you think that there's actual lace on the shoe! Her shoes also come in platforms (4 inch heels) and kitten heel (2 1/2 inch heel) which gives you a great option to strut your stuff in platforms or in heels that will give you a little lift.

Her collection is personalized and really something special. You can tell the creativity behind each pump. She is such a sweetheart and her kindness really peaks through her work. She even shows some sassyness with her shoes like the diamond printed shoes and the fishnet patterned shoe.

(Please do not mind the quality of my pictures. I was having a really off day on Wednesday. I forgot my camera at home and almost forgot my phone! Ok I did but remembered half way down the stairs and grabbed it. It was to late for my camera on the other hand since I realized I forgot it when I was at work. I did at least get some pictures with my camera...thank god for technology!)

My favorite of all are the Gold and Blue marble shoe called Sydney (which is from her bridal collection). I just love the texture that the paint gives the shoe and the color. It sort of reminds me of a vintage beautiful wall paper

Friend Friday: Blog Pet Peeves

Everyone has their pet peeves like I can't stand when woman put their purses on the seat next to them on the train and when you ask them to move it they give you a dirty look. Like come on! Your purse doesn't need a seat. Anyway even us bloggers have our pet peeves about other blogs, post, comments, bloggers, etc.. Modlychic was inspired to do this Friend Friday on a post from Beautifully Invisible from a couple weeks ago entitled ‘The 10 things that drive
me crazy about your blog." We were asked to make our own list and the read the post. So here are my 5 things that drive me crazy from blogs that I visit.

Friend Friday: Blog Pet Peeves

1. Music on a blog. I hate when there's music on peoples blog. I mean I understand that you want to show your flavor but I mean it usually freaks the hell out of me and when I'm at work I usually have my music playing on my computer so then I need to turn mine off then try to find where the music is playing on the blog.

2. Over htmlized blogs. I hate when peoples websites or blogs are over htmlized. TO MUCH STUFF. Just keep it simple. If I'm going to your blog I want to be able to read what you post.

3. O comment link where are you? I hate searching for a comment link. It shouldn't be difficult to find. I also hate when there is no comment link. Why have a blog if you don't want others to share opinions with you.

4. Let me throw this out there. I'm okay with repost of pictures, extra. I follow blogs that are report heavy but I like when they do leave a little something or a comment on a reason why. I don't like when they just repost pictures. It's not very exciting or orginal. Maybe its not a pet peeve. Maybe its just an understanding I'm lacking.

5. Bad pictures. Okay listen I've had some bad quality pictures but I try to do my best with the quality. But I can't stand when people consistently post bad pictures. I would love to see your outfit but I can't because your pictures are bad quality. If they aren't bad quality they are to small or way to big. Getting the image sizing down is a must.
