NYFW: Ruffian Fall 2012 Takes New York to English Country Side

It wasn't till the Fall 2011 Collection when I fell in love with designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian. I remember sitting at my office desk and watching the live stream of the Ruffian show and being amazed by the tailoring and their take of their menswear inspired woman's wear. Tuxedo pieces filled the collection-- that's when I knew I somehow needed to get an invite to their show. Spring 2012 didn't happen but when I got the invite for the Fall 2012 show I couldn't believe my eyes...I basically had a mini heart attack. My poor boyfriend had no idea what the hell was happening or why I was spazzing out. His understanding of fashion is minimal....
It was an early morning on the 3rd day...9 am show (which should be made illegal) but there was no chance in hell I was missing it. No snow or early morning call was going to keep me away. I rolled my butt out of bed and trek in the wet snow to Lincoln Center. There is nothing like the tents in the early morning-- quiet and calm. Like always the show didn't begin till 9:30am but once the first look went down the runway we knew we weren't in New York anymore -- more like the English country side. Long wool duster coats, wide brim hats, high collar shirts, and knee length skirts ruled this runway. Along with tweed and plaid print. My favorite looks were the high collar shirts, the black velvet body hugging long sleeve dress, and the dashing red duster coat with leather trim.

NYFW: Nautica Menswear Fall 2012 Presentation
I bearly ever cover menswear...by that I mean I covered menswear once and that was last season for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for VLOV. I would be lieing if I said I wasn't excited to have gotten an invite to the Nautica's Fall 2012 Menswear Presentation. I mean besides getting to eye up some handsome models, who can pass up on getting to checkout such a well known label? Nautica is one of those lines that pop into my head when I think menswear. It's a classic American label known for it's preppy feel and look. Since I'm a sucker for the classic well dressed man, this is a label I love to see men in.
To be completely honest I was 100% intimated when walking into the long packed second floor of Eds Chowder House. The models literally looked like they jumped out of a catalog. Yes, men this good looking exist out in the wild. I couldn't figure out if I liked the clothes because of the boys or I really did like the clothes. After looking at the pictures and getting passed the good lookingness of the guys I decided I definitely liked the collection as a whole.

I think every woman wants their guy to be well dressed-- at least once in awhile and Nautica has the pieces to do that. My favorite look on a man is the more rugged look hence why I feel in love with the khaki utlity blazer. Plus simple classic looks like a pull over sweater, peacoat, and button up shirts.
Would you dress your man in Nautica clothing? How about the guys out there, would you wear this line?

NYFW: Parkchoonmoo's Avant-garde Mountain Nomad

I was so excited when I read on the Mercedes Benz schedule that Parkchoonmoo made it's way into the tent this season. After seeing her last season I was really intrigued in what she will present for the Fall 2012 season. My hopes were fleeting of seeing her work walk down the catwalk in Lincoln Center until I got an invite to the show two days before the show. It was a early morning for the second day. First show on Friday morning but the anticipation of her show (along with the help of a tall vanilla latte from Starbucks) kept me awake. As I read the description and line list, which was full of Alpaca fur, had me drooling. And what she did with the fur and lambskin wool was amazing. The whole show was very avant-garde but still wearable. At heart I am a downtown girl and love deconstructed look. Parkchoonmoo's clothes are for the downtown underground girls but I feel like even the uptown girls could still rock some of her pieces especially the alpaca coat. I also love that she kept her color palette simple with blacks, whites, and beiges. In doing this she really allowed her clothes to do all the talking.

I am really glad that she kept to her asthetics this fall season. I really love up-coming designers and I see her going far!
