Inspirational Monday: Untucked Jeans & Boots

According to WhoWhatWear tucking your jeans into your boots is a thing of the past. Which I find slightly amusing as I have never really been big on tucking my jeans into my boots unless they were to the knee or over the knee boots...or unless they were my cowboy boots. I just never felt comfortable with ankle boots tucked in. There are just some jeans that aren't meant to be tucked in like boyfriend style jeans, cut off hems, or pants with zippers.

I love untucked jeans with boots as it gives a look a more undone feel. Saturday the husband and I had to run some errands aka make a Target trip, so I wore my favorite sweater shirt from Aritzia and Loft boyfriend jeans. Super casual look for a super casual day.

Are you ready to ditch your skinny jeans this spring for loose cut pants? Okay, maybe not totally ditch the skinny jeans but get ready to at least mix in some loose fit and flared pants. Yes, this trend can be scary, especially since we all have come to love our skinnies. Some key things to remember is to keep your tops a bit fitted, this will help from keeping you look wide. Do add a top that has a bit of a relaxed fit to have a loungey feel. Loose leg pants can also shorten you, so add heels to create a lengthening effect.

I'm already prepared to swap in some looser and flared pants since I already have a a couple of pairs of wide leg trousers. I brought out my favorite pair of J.Brand jeans last week to welcome the Spring air. I love these J.Brands because they are super long. Why would I love something super long? So I can hide my 4 inch or 5 inch heels underneath the flare. This helps create the illusion of long legs!

I'm still on the hunt for boyfriend style jeans that look good on me. Even though I have a couple of leads thanks to Kimberlee of I Have a Degree in This. My first stop will be The Gap to check out their Sexy Boyfriend style jeans. Wish me luck guys!

Will you be ditching your skinnies this spring?

DIY: Marc by Marc Jacobs' Lily Polka-dot Skinny Jean

Diy project: Marc by Marc Jaocob's Lily

Marc by Marc Jacobs mid-rise jeans, $290

Thanks to Liz of Late Afternoon's post, Denim Dots, I have been obsessed with the Marc by Marc Jacobs "Lily" jeans. But after scouting them out online, prices ranging from $198 to $298, I realized that these jeans were not in my budget. So after some thinking I decided to do a DIY Project...where I found Swell Mayde's blog. After getting the idea of doing a DIY project I searched the web to see if anyone else has attempted this project or something similar, which is how I found Swell Mayde. Her jeans came perfectly so I knew this what I wanted to do.

What You Need:
- White Fabric Paint
- Round Sponge Brushes (used: 3/4 inch Round Tulip Sponge Pouncers)
- a palate or a paper plate to mix fabric paint and water
- light washed destroyed denim jeans (mine are from Forever21)
- optional: measuring tape

Step 1. Mix fabric paint with water. It helps to get the faded color of the dots
Step 2. Use the round brush start stamping your dots. I first started measuring out the dots with my measuring tape but then just started doing it by just eyeing it.
Step 3. Wait for the front side to dry and repeat on back side.
You can also use Swell Mayde's direction...there she tells you her measurement of dots.

How To Wear Them:
Jacket: Ann Taylot | Sweater: Zara | Jeans: DIY | Shoes: Shoemint | Bag: c/o Ann Taylor | Watch: American Eagle | Bracelets: Forever21 and c/o Ann Taylor | Sunglasses: Tobi.com

What do you think of this DIY project? Would you be willing to give it a try?
