Now Trending: The Cold Shoulder

Dress: c/o Tobi.com | Jacket: American Eagle | Shoes: OluKai | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sunglasses: Aldo
Suns out. Shoulders out. I'm all over the off the shoulder trend again. Last Summer I showed you how to wear an off the shoulder shirt to work (read here) but this season I'm about the bare shoulder dresses. These dresses are the perfect summer day dress pair with sneaks for a day out, switch to a pair of heels for a dinner date. I took this Tobi.com out for a spin finally on Sunday as temperatures reached 70 degrees. This dress is super light weight and was just right for enjoying a walking around the hood eating tacos and ice cream.

The Trend for Less: The Lace Up Sandal
This Spring/Summer Shoe Trend is all about the lace up sandals. These shoes are super cute to dress up with a pair of jeans or a summer dress. These also make a great day to night shoes, switch a light pink lipstick for a day look for a red lip at night. Many celebrities like Olivia Palermo, Alexa Chung, and Kim Kardashian have been rocking this summer trend as well. It's one of the IT GIRL shoes for the 2014.
How I Wore the Look:

Shirt: Nonoo (sample sale) | Jeans: LOFT | Shoes: Anne Michelle (ideeli.com) | Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim X Target |
Watch: c/o Rakani | Bracelets: ALDO | Sunglasses: Glow Accessories

Spring Trend For Less: The Embellished Sandals
Zara jeweled sandals / H&M sparkly shoes, $42 / Kate Spade white flat / J.Crew leather sandals, $335

I wore the H&M sandals for a casual Saturday while running some errands around the city. Paired with a slouchy summer sweater and easy breezy pair of shorts for a simple day look. These sandals def. added a bit of sparkle that a casual look needs.
What do you think about this trend? Would you splurge on the designers or steal the look for less?

Spring Trend: The Feminine Sporty Look
Throughout High School and College I lived in my sneakers, particularly Vans. As soon as I graduated from College I traded out my sneaks for stylish flats. This season I'm falling back in love with sneakers, from slip ons to wedges. I'm really in particular digging the sneakers with feminine dresses and skirts. Sneakers give the whole look a laid back vibe that is totally my style.
I gave this look a try on a casual Saturday. Wore my pleated H&M skirt with my new pair of Puma wedge sneakers to run errands and have lunch with the parents.

The trick to this look is to keep it super casual. When doing a feminine dress pair it with casual pieces like a leather jacket. When doing a feminine skirt keep your top simple, a slouchy top will add a bit of ease to a look.

Spring 2013 Trend: Asian Inspired
One of the pluses of holding out on trying new trends or jumping on a trend wagon right away is getting these trends on sale. This the perfect time of the season to get the summer sales from sample sales to the end-of-season in-store/online sales. I've been holding out on the Asian inspired spring trend myself, even though I have my fair share of kimono style sleeved shirts. This inspiration was all designer's runways to stores like Zara (which is currently having their summer sale, my top picks are here and here). This trend can be easy to pull of with just a couple of basics or fun accessories.
Fashion is all about trying to mix things up. A great pair of floral printed silk pants like the French Connection ones can be both dressed down or up. One may think these pants wouldn't be able to work into a work wear look...wrong. A basic t-shirt, a blazer, and a pair of pumps can take these from bed to work. Throw on some red lipstick for a dramatic after work cocktail look. To have a little more ease to this look and to throw a little more inspiration into it, a great pair of chunky wooden heels is all you need. Replace a basic tee with a sold print high low top, go for neutral colors.
I actually played around with this look myself for a casual Friday outfit. It was probably one of the most comfortable outfits I have ever worn to work. PJ style pants plus chunky heels, what more could I want.

Spring Trend: Monochrome
Since the weather has been wacky I decided to layer up two of my favorite jackets, my Michael Kors leather jacket under my light weight houndstooth Roxy jacket. Adding a printed black and white piece to your look can give it a more vibrant feeling instead of just your basic black and white look.

Spring Trends: Totally Nautical
There is something about the nautical look that I love. It's one of those perfect summer trends that never goes out of style...especially when out on the beach or on a boat. It's also a trend that you don't need to spend a lot of money on, you might even have some pieces in your closet right now!
For an early spring look you can easily pull off the nautical trend that was seen at Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors runway shows for Spring 2013 by pairing up your favorite striped shirts and sweaters. The trick to layering stripes, so that it doesn't seem so scary, is to play with different sized stripes. Try a smaller width stripped shirt under a thicker width striped sweater. Another is to play with colors, try a navy striped paired with a red stripe, these tricks are to help with the contrast and not looking totally stripe on stripe. To keep the look from being to stripped crazy pair neutral tones to your look like a pair of white jeans or black shoes.
This past weekend my fiance and I went to Atlantic City for a mini anniversary getaway and I was totally inspired by-- A. hitting the beach B. Tommy Hilfiger's Spring ads (which are popping up in every magazine). I decided that a little nautical look for the trip would be deemed appropriate and fun. I paired my white pair of jeans from H&M with two of my favorite striped tops along with my trench to keep me some what warm.
Trench: H&M | Sweater: LF Store | Shirt: H&M | Jeans: H&M | Sneakers: American Apparel |

To say the least this mini trip made me long for summer even more. It was great to get out of the city, to see the beach, and breath some fresh air...but it was a total tease being at the beach and not really being able to be on it. Even though we got totally lucky with the weather!

Spring Colorblocking: Orange and Blue
Colorblocking is not for the faint at heart. Especially when colorblocking two bold colors and two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. Style Servings blog gave me the idea to colorblock my orange and blue when I saw her post Style Ingredients: New Ways to Wear Red. The last picture on her post gave me the boost of confidence that I could totally pull of the mix of orange and blue.
Okay so her post was on reds and not oranges but I figured red and orange are close together and that my Ann Taylor coat pretty close to a red color that I could still work this look. Like many other woman I'm not totally secure with going TOTALLY out there like the bold woman above. So to keep it looking down to earth and not totally crazy I used some of the basics like a neutral top and accessories.
Coat and Sweater: Ann Taylor
Jeans: H&M
Shoes: Nine West
Bag: c/o Remi & Emmy

Ring: H&M

I used my floral Nine West kitten heels to help tie in the colors but if you don't have floral pair of shoes a nude heel would work just perfectly. Nudes and neutrals are always key in tieing separate pieces together. They also help keep the outfit looking toned down. Since this look is bold and holds it own keep jewelry minimal. A big statement piece like my rock ring from H&M works but remember to just keep the overall look basic.
Would you try and pull this look off?
