Spring Colorblocking: Orange and Blue

Spring Colorblocking: Orange and Blue

Colorblocking is not for the faint at heart. Especially when colorblocking two bold colors and two colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. Style Servings blog gave me the idea to colorblock my orange and blue when I saw her post Style Ingredients: New Ways to Wear Red. The last picture on her post gave me the boost of confidence that I could totally pull of the mix of orange and blue.

Okay so her post was on reds and not oranges but I figured red and orange are close together and that my Ann Taylor coat pretty close to a red color that I could still work this look. Like many other woman I'm not totally secure with going TOTALLY out there like the bold woman above. So to keep it looking down to earth and not totally crazy I used some of the basics like a neutral top and accessories.

Coat and Sweater: Ann Taylor
Jeans: H&M
Shoes: Nine West
Bag: c/o Remi & Emmy
Ring: H&M

I used my floral Nine West kitten heels to help tie in the colors but if you don't have floral pair of shoes a nude heel would work just perfectly. Nudes and neutrals are always key in tieing separate pieces together. They also help keep the outfit looking toned down. Since this look is bold and holds it own keep jewelry minimal. A big statement piece like my rock ring from H&M works but remember to just keep the overall look basic.

Would you try and pull this look off?

  23. I think you did great at colour blocking. The original picture that you used as your inspiration was really well put together too. As long as your confident and stick to 2/3 colours paired with neutrals, as you have, then you can make it work.
