Inspirational Monday: Pleats Please
(The World Looks Red, Late Afternoon, Candace Lakes for Glamour.com)Unless you live in a cave somewhere then you know that pleats are in for this season. You can't turn a page or a webpage without seeing a pleated skirt. Which is more then a-okay with me. I think I was a head of the game about a year or so ago when I bought my accordion pleated blue skirt from H&M but the more pleated skirts I see the more I want...MORE. Pleats give a dress or a skirt such great definition and add femininity. Even dark colors like black look more feminine with pleats. They just give it a nice soft look about them. Pleated skirts are fun to play with, you can go super feminine or give it a dress down look. I really love soft color pleated skirts and play up the feminine look like the photo that Candace Lakes took.

Friend Friday: Shoes!
Every girl loves shoes! Okay well to be honest I hated going shoe shopping as a kid, but not until recently have I really enjoyed going shoe shopping. It's like I'm making up for all those years that I missed out on. For awhile I was just buying shoes. I recently discovered that I have a whole bag of shoes that I had forgotten about! WOOPS! I have a shoe problem.

1. What is your go-to pair of shoes?
My go to pair of shoes right now are my Aldo oxfords that I bought back during Fashion Night Out in September. Even though I had to be talked into buying them by my cousin and her best friend, I'm glad that they did. It was love at first sight but I was hesitant because I didn't really want to spend the $50 bucks or however much they were but they indeed worked out for the best.
I'm also loving Prada shoes lately. I was OBESSED with their loafer this past fall season but once again I don't own or have I ever tried on a pair. With Prada I love how timeless their shoes. They just scream classy to me.
5. If price wasn’t an issue, you’d own which shoe?
Drools....there are so many shoes....I would def. buy the designer brands that I stated above (more) Jeffrey Campbells, Prada, and Christian Louboutin. But I would also buy Alexander Wang, Alexnder McQueen, and a whole bunch of other designers as well lol.
Since we are on the topic of shoes I have a question for you all....What is the deal with the Tory Burch flats? I don't understand why every woman has a pair of these flats. I'm sure that they are comfortable but I don't find then flattering. I hate the huge Tory Burch buckle logo on them. Now that it's spring time I've seen more and more woman walking around with them and I feel like...I'm just not getting something?

2. What goes into your shoe buying decisions?
Def. color, looks, how they feel, and price. I first have to be attracted to the shoe and think about how the color goes with the rest of my wardrobe. If I can at least thing of a few outfits I can work out with it then it goes on to trying them on. They have to be comfortable even if they are a high heel. I have to be able to wear them all day even if its just parading around in the office. For a more casual shoe it has to be something I can get a lot of wear out of. Price of course because I don't have a large bank account. For shoes like Jeffrey Campbell's I'm willing to drop a $100 to $200 on shoes (if I have the money to do so).
3. The majority of the shoes in your closet are what color?
Black, brown, and nude.
4. When it comes to design shoes what are your favorite brands and why? As you all should know by now, I'm a HUGE fan of Jeffrey Campbell. I love that even with a 5 inch heel they feel so comfortable. The shoes are honestly reasonably priced for the comfort and the make of the shoe. I would much rather save my money up and buy a pair of good heels to ever go back to buying a bunch of cheap shoes.

Happy Cinco De Mayo
Happy Cinco De Mayo party people!! The boyfriend and I went to this place called the Habana Cafe Outpost in Brooklyn. It was our first time there but it's def. a cool place that I would go back to have some time to sit back and have some margaritas. It's a seasonal Mexican place that opens in April and has mostly an outside sitting area. Instead of a kitchen they cook out of a food truck! So unique and so in with the times especially here in New York where now food trucks are the places to go to during lunch. Afterwards we tried getting a table at a local Mexican place but the wait was 20 to 30 mins! No thank you! So instead we bought some Coronas and brought them home.
I did a very simple out today. Sometimes simple is the way to go. I got a great compliment today from one of my co-workers which was that today was one of the first times that she saw me dressed down and that usually I look like I "stepped out of a Vogue magazine." I just felt like keeping it simple and not over doing doing it with jewelry put just doing simple pieces like bangles and a big ring.

Deals and Steals for MOM
Mother's Day is on Sunday and if you are in the search for the perfect gift but want to still hold on to a few dollars here is my gift guide for some great deals for MOM!
2. The Planner. Is your Mom a planner? Or is your Mom always a mess? Well how about lending Mom a hand and getting her a bright and colorful planner. Inspirational Monday: Water for Elephants
I meant to do this entry last Monday but I did not have time to actually sit down to write it but here it is now. I read this book end of last year and feel in love with the whole story. Sure it's a romance story but it's all about the human spirit. I was so excited to see this movie and I honestly was not disappointed by it. Of course the book is better and I recommend reading this book if you haven't! The wardrobe designer, Jacqueline West, and art director did a great job recreating the 1930s and showing the difference between the different tiers in the circus simply through clothes. Reese Witherspoon's character Marlena has the most amazing clothing from beautiful elegant dresses to her on stage costumes that glitter and glow. It's amazing how the style in the movie can easily transcend to today's style. Elegant maxi dresses that are seen down the runways today of such designers Lanvin.
There was also a scene where Marlena was dressed a bit down which could look like riding gear with a simple basic top, brown shorts, a head band and an arm full of bangles. For some reason the arm full of bangles stood out to me. Maybe it was because the outfit was so basic that this was easy to catch or maybe it was just that it was so relate able. That we all throw on accessories over an easy outfit.

When I was kid I use to go to the circus every year with my parents. It was really something I enjoyed and so did my dad. I'll never forget when I told my dad I didn't want to go to the circus anymore I broke his heart but I was to much of an agnsty teenager to care. I miss going to the circus with my dad, this is one of those times where I feel bad for growing up. Anyway, I remember every time I left I left with a cup, some kind of glow stick, and a stuff animal. I remember loving the elephants and always wanting to ride one. Reese Witherspoon def. stole my dream and I'm sure a lot of other girls dreams too. It really must have been an amazing experience. Elephants are such interesting animals, they are so smart and have a real sense of feelings and emotions.
Just like the circus this story and movie is so whimsical. It's a tear jerker but the whole world in which this story lives in is so different.
