Friend Friday: FADS

Let's be honest we all fall into fads whether we want to admit it or not. Skinny jean fad, jegging fad, Litas fad...list goes on. I mean I have def. falling in love with the Jeffrey Campbell fad, I know what a shocker a fashion blogger that loves JC shoes and owns a pair of Litas. But to be honest I was weary of jumping on the JC Litas bandwagon at first...then I got a pair and it's been non-stop love after that. I however missed a couple of the fads since they totally missed the mark with me...even though I feel like the crazy person when I just don't get it and everyone else seems to love it. I guess thats the thing about fads some people whether they hate it have to like it because it's the IT thing.

FRIEND FRIDAY: FADS
FADS

1. Do you ever see a fad hit the stores and immediately dislike it? Has that fad ever began to grow on you?
I was not about the Missoni Target line...I mean some of the stuff was cute but I wasn't DIEING over it like a lot of people were. Same with the Lanvin line, at first I did like it. I loved the editorial work they did but once I saw the construction in store I totally disliked it. Why would you spend $200+ on a designer line from H&M that was made poorly. I still can't get over that. Also the biggest fad that won't seem to go away is the Tory Burch flats. I'm sorry but they are ugly. I'm sure they are comfortable but I have a fair of simple blacl flats from Target that have lasted a few years now that cost me maybe $20. Tory Burch flats are so not appealing to me. I don't understand why EVERY woman has them in NYC.

A fad that has grown on me are UGGs. I was 100% against them...mostly bc of girls at my college that would wear them with short skirts and shorts during the spring time. It just look ridic. Then I got my first pair of UGGs and then I understood what it was about them. No they aren't the best looking pair of shoes but they do keep your feet warm during the winter and they are comfy. I would NEVER be caught dead wearing them outside of winter with shorts/mini skirt on.

2. Has the popularity of a certain piece of clothing or line ever convinced you to try on something (or purchase something) you dislike?

Besides UGGs I really can't think of anything else....

3. Have you ever changed your mind about a trend after seeing it around for a while?
Sure. At first the whole maxi dress/skirt trend I loved it. I really did but it's one of those things that I never thought I personally could pull off..until one day I saw a girl my age and my height on the train with a maxi dress on did I think I could pull it off.

Another trend is the fur vest. I never wanted one...never cared for it...but now I want one. I don't know if it's maybe my taste that has grown up or just seeing it everywhere. Sometimes it's hard to tell why you like something NOW when you didn't care for it earlier.

4. Do you feel a certain pressure to have specific items in your closet because 'everyone' else does?
hmmmmmmmm.....I don't know if it's becuase everyone else does...it's more of the more and more I see it the more and more I want them. That's what happened with the Litas I saw them once and was like O they are cute! And then I saw them EVERYWHERE and after seeing them multiple times I was like okay okay okay I HAVE TO GET THEM. So a little bite of want and a little bite of pressure i guess?

5. Be honest, what do you think of the Missoni line? Did you grab any items? Is it worth the eBay prices?
Like I said earlier...I wasn't a huge fan of the Missoni line. Some of it was a TOTAL miss for me. And some pieces were cute but I would never buy it/wear it.

I would NEVER pay the prices for a Target line that eBayers are selling it at. It's ridic and unfair. And not nice. I think it's actually very cruel. Just like I hate those sample sale buyers that buy EVERYTHING and then sell them on eBay at a ridic price. It's just totally unfair. Designers have these lines for a reason -- to bring it to those people who wouldn't be able to afford the REAL line. Designers have sample sales not only to get rid of whatever they have but it's also helpful for those that can't walk into Barneys and buy it in season off the rack. I mean come on.

  1. I love this post, A LOT!

I'm with you about the Missoni line for target, the prices are ridiculous, i read somewhere that you can actually buy vintage Missoni for the same prices sellers are selling the target line on ebay.

But I would never, ever, wear UGGs nor Litas, i don't find them cute at all!
Lately I've been wanting a pair of flare pants, and a year ago I remember I said I hated them! haha i guess you can never say never!
