Style Guide: Red, White and Blue
J.Crew | Lord & Taylor | Solid & Striped | Sperry | Soludos | Madewell
It's the 4th of July Weekend you guys! HIP HIP HOORAY! Are you ready to celebrate America in style? No? Well. you're in luck that our flag's colors are probably something that you already have in your closet. Dig for that red or blue stripped shirt, skirt, or dress and pair with accessories like Sperry's watch. For a casual BBQ look play with a stripped shift dress like the one from J.Crew and a boater hat. For a beach look turn to American Apparel for a sexy swimwear full of American Pride or do a retro style swimsuit like the one from Solid & Striped.
My husband and I are throwing our 2nd Annual 4th of July Rooftop Party. This is the second year in a row that you'll be able to see the fireworks from Brooklyn! We are really lucky to have such a great view of the city and the east river from our roof.

Style Guide: What to Wear on the 4th of July
from left to right: Topshop Cropped Top | Huggsy I Love USA Necklace | Nasty Gal Picnic Skater Skirt (ON SALE) | Huggsy American Flag Scarf | Rebecca Minkoff Bardot Sandals (ON SALE) | Nasty Gal Weekend Love Backpack
The 4th of July is known for cookouts and picnics and the gingham print is the ultimate picnic/bbq day print. What more fun can a gingham print skirt be then at a bbq. Play with the red, white, and blue theme by picking a gingham skirt in blue or red then pairing it up with a white top. For a high waist skirt try a cropped top. Mix this print up with some American flag accessories like scarves, bows, and jewelry. To keep the look from looking overly patriotic mix in neural tones for the shoes, bags, and sunglasses.
I had fun playing with this look and gearing up for the 4th of July. The Hugssy accessories are cute ways to bring in American themed apparel without going costumey. Both the Hugssy scarf and necklace have a bit of vintage in them which makes it easy to mix into other looks when it's not the 4th of July.

Since cropped tops are my new thing this summer I had to break out my other white cropped top that I scored from Social Apparel. The high waist of the Fovever21 skirt gives just a peek of skin which makes it appropriate to family bbqs. Also I love that you don't need to actually wear printed scarves to accessorize a look, you can simply tie to around your bag to give the look a pop.

This is what I wore to our little 4th of July picnic. I love living in Brooklyn and having access to such easy access to beautiful views of the city and bridges. We sat underneath the Manhattan Bridge to hide from the sun and to just enjoy the day. I really wish that they would bring the fireworks back to the East River.
