NYFW Fall 2015: Mara Hoffman's take on Star Wars
all photos taken by me. view more photos here.
To no ones surprise Mara Hoffman is one of my favorite designers. I fully respect designers that have a certain aesthetic or artistic view who don't sway from their artistry no matter what the trends say. Hoffman knows how to take her boho aesthetic and make it into a ultra modern feminine look. I love that this season she took a step back from her vibrant tribal prints and made neutral toned boho wear with pops of prints. One of my favorite looks was the black, white, and orange print midi skirt with matching top. There was a blue jumper paired with a scarf wrapped over head that totally caught my eye. Not only did I feel like I could wear the jumper, but I enjoyed the overall styling of the look...which can be said for a lot of the looks. Of course, I love the big braids messily placed on the crown of their head.

NYFW Spring 2015: Mara Hoffman's "The Sunrisers"
pictures taken by me. see more here.
On a hot and humid Saturday afternoon Mara Hoffman debuted her light and airy Spring 2015 collection appropriately named "The Sunrirsers." This Spring Hoffman found inspiration in everything that is light, and it truly was. Her fist piece sent down the run was a white linen button down with a pair of white cut-off culottes, white brim baseball cap and white shoes. Though Hoffman went for a brighter collection and cut down on her usual tribal prints she kept to her cool boho style, flowy dresses, crop tops, and wide leg pants. The make-up matched the style with a nude face and messy beachy braids.

NYFW Fall 2014: Mara Hoffman's Northern African Dream
picture taken by me. see more here.
Mara Hoffman is always one of the shows that I look forward to seeing each New York Fashion Week. This season Hoffman did not disappoint. This season Hoffman found inspiration in Northern Africa, specifically in Moroccan Rugs, Egyptian Camels, and Bedouin Jewelry. This inspiration fit perfectly into her aesthetic. The prints were Hoffman's typical tribal prints with vibrant color and a boho vibe. She add in tailored coats and trousers along with beaded looks into her repertoire.

NYFW Spring 2014: Don't Worry Be Happy with Mara Hoffman
For the past 2 seasons I have covered Mara Hoffman's collections and this season I was just as excited about her show. Her shows are always so bright and fun. I mean, I am the beachy boho girl at heart. Hoffman's Spring 2014 collection was about "straight up happiness" (style.com), which was seen and felt with neon embroidery to beautiful bright tribal prints.
In Hoffman style there was plenty of crop tops, bathing suits, and maxi dresses...and I needed all of them. Some of the prints did remind me a bit of Kenzo and some of the sweaters were something we saw from Hoffman last season, a little more light weight but similar cuts. I did love the 90s tie dye effect, I see another diy project coming for Spring 2014. I also loved the hair for this collection, the long Native American style braid with with ribbon wrapped around and in it.

Mara Hoffman Fall 2013
Mara Hoffman without a doubt is my soul sister. Being in the Stage tent in Lincoln Center and watching her line go down the runway made me forget about the slushy snow that waited outside, which was funny since this was a fall line. Sticking to her own aesthetic and her consumers' appreciations, the Fall 2013 collection was full of beautiful tribal prints, vibrant colors and flowing dresses. This season Hoffman played off the idea of a traveling circus of "Gypsies, Tramps, & Thieves," which can be seen in playful prints like the "evil eye" and the Caravan print (which intertwines elephants and peacocks).

NYFW: Taking a Mini Trip to Hawaii with Mara Hoffman Spring 2013
Hoffman's collection was everything I was hoping and expecting: beautiful beachy prints, maxi dresses and skirts, cropped tops, and cutout dresses. She even started and ended the show with girls singing and playing the ukele! How awesome is that? Not only did the clothes and music bring you the feeling of being in Hawaii but so did the leaf head pieces. I mean seriously this whole collection makes me crave my Hawaii trip even more.

Of course, I'm in love with all the colorful bustiers. I still have my H&M knock off that I wish it was a Mara Hoffman bustier. This is without a doubt on the top of my list of my favorite shows that I saw for Spring 2013.
