NYFW: Erin Barr Spring 2013

As if New York Fashion Week wasn't already stressful lets add on trying to get from Lincoln Center to Chelsea during rush hour when the trains decide not to run and taxi drivers refuse to take you downtown because they are off duty (if you aren't familiar with the city this is about 40 blocks away and some avenues over depending where). Well...this is exactly what happened to me, Pins Needles Fashion, and The Tiny Tie Rant as we tried to make our way to Erin Barr's Spring 2013 show. First off all three of us thought it was an actual show which had me freaking while we sat in traffic on 9th ave and 42nd street. Then we found out it was just a presentation which was a little more calming. But to be honest, I didn't breathe better until we actually made our way inside Drive-In Studios. After climbing a flight of stairs in wedges we walked into a wide room that had an amazing set up. I'm a fan of presentations since you can actually view the clothing, but seriously this was unlike any presentation that I have seen so far. Instead of having the models up on the stands and us awkwardly walking close up to them to take their pictures-- this presentation was a lot more like watching a little performance piece. The room was set up with chairs, sofas, tables with books on them and even a little record player on the floor with records. Some of the models were sitting some were standing but at least one model was always in motion. Which means one model would walk around show off the clothes and then tag an unexpected model to be next to do her walk through. The best part of the presentation was one model deciding to dance with another model. I love seeing life in the models.

The clothes were fantastic. I was obsessed with the girl in all black -- black leather top, skirt, and shoes. Maybe it was a bit of her attitude too. Either way she was my favorite look. Along with the red cut out dress. It just had sexy appeal without being overly sexy. This whole collection was very mod and just a great modern take on the whole Mad Men look.

Also loving the Mascot sunglasses that Erin Barr used to style with in her collection. They really complete the look. I'm just so happy to see that the clear sunnies aren't going anywhere for Spring 2013!

What do you think of this collection?

  3. This presentation sounds like it was so much fun! I love that they did something different and created a scene, instead of, like you said, having the typical models posing on top of platforms. I think it's much more interesting this way. I can also see that black and white is going to be huge for spring and I love two-toned shoes and that b/w coat above.

  6. What an awesome way to show off your clothes! They all seem like "cool kids" so not sure I could rock them hehe but I agree with you, the girl in all leather was awesome!
