Inspirational Monday: Mixing Stripes and Polka Dots

I'm always inspired by seeing mixed prints on woman but I never really mixed prints on myself, this is only because I think it looks good on everyone else but me. Well when I picked up the striped shirt from Target the first outfit that crossed my mine was pairing it up with my polka dotted skirt. I was surprised at myself of thinking of it, but since I thought it I had to try it. Who knew I'd end up loving stripes AND dots on myself!

Loving it so much that I had to play hopscotch!

Shirt: Target
Skirt: Forever21
Shoes: Aldo
Necklace: American Eagle
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Sunglasses: H&M
Belt: Target
Cupcake from Crumbs given to me by a friend at work from her sister's wedding!

When mixing prints remember to keep your accessories basic and solid. You don't want to go to crazy with different patterns, especially when you're not use to mixing it up. Oxfords are my go to shoes when wanting to keep an outfit casual looking and chic. Add playful jewelry, I played off the stripes and did an anchor necklace. This gives the look a bit of a nautical theme without looking like I'm ready to jump on deck to steer the boat. My best advice to anyone is to at least try something outside your comfortable zone at least once. If you don't like it then you know never to do it again. OR you might just end up surprising yourself!
